I have a hard time believing all this stuff in fact fits in your FJ LOL.

I think this stuff to me is not going to make camping any better in fact it would drive me nuts. I would loath getting up in the morning and packing. I'm not sure what camping or "expedition" trips are to you but most times its setting up camp in a different place each night and moving on early the next morning.

Your setup is like a house (& catalog) on wheels and that's not camping as most would class it. I'm not knocking you, if you are cool lugging that stuff all around then great but wow that's got to weigh a lot!

I would skip the tent heater and mat and just get a warmer bag.

I do not use a sleeping bag anymore since getting the roof top tent.
Flannel sheets and a warm down comforter are what most go with.
It is so much nicer and easier to sleep when you are not constricted by a sleeping bag.
Same as sleeping at home.

Setting up the stuff is not hard at all, I did it for years when tent and tent trailer camping when my sons were wee little lads.

I got the 12v pad a few weeks back, will be setting that up to test when we get some good weather.
It would be used for winter camping only if I do get a chance to camp then.
Other than that, the current sheets/comforter are really warm.

I also like being set up in one place the whole time, as it gives me more time to explore the area on foot, and also to kick back for some R&R.
Moving to a new place each day gets very old, I did that many years ago.
I much prefer to stay in one place for the duration of the trip.

Will be checking out some old gold/ore mining areas this coming summer at Mt. Rainier that I saw many years ago on there.

I hope you did not think that all of the gear in this thread is mine and I pack it all.
This thread is just a place to list stuff to share with the membership of new products that are out on the market.
The gear that I have that I have bought after posting some of the ideas here is in this thread.

OK that makes more sense then, I enjoy setting up for a day or two but the call of the trail soon takes over again and I'm on the move. Usually when I'm out I like to see as much as possible and cover as much terrain as I can.

Most of my trips are back country and away from any kind of camping area. I try and stay off the beaten path as much as I can.

Some of the stuff you have reviewed I would love to have but sacrifice it to keep the weight of the truck down. A shower would be great after 2 days of driving on dusty roads with out A/C in the summer.

I think the one thing I want the most is a RTT but the thought of that on top of my already tall truck is a bit scary. That is closely followed by a Fridge, I like the look of the new ARB 50qt.

Not sure if this was posted or not and some of you might hate me for not being manly with a bbq, but this saves a lot of time and space.

Hardly uses any gas at all, super light and heats up much faster than any camp bbq i've used. I've got boiling water for coffee/tea/hot cocoa in less than 5 minutes. Only down side is you have to keep pans with you since theres no grill on it.

Bass Pro has 'em

Video at the site.
I first saw these posted by Shadow Warrior over at the blue FJ forum.
Looks like a cool compact chair you can keep in your rig all the time.

I bought a Cabelas lounger, it arrived Thursday.
Cabela's Chaise Loungers - Black
Item:9IS-516942

Also available in other colors, and you can get a case for it too.
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...148&id=0032217

My lead at work drove down to the Lacy Cabelas store in WA. state last weekend and picked up two of them in blue.

They have a sale going on right now at around 50% off on these.
I went for the larger size, as it gives you a little more room.

You can sleep in these things, they are really comfortable.
I set mine up in the living room yesterday and watched Lost while in it

I will still take my old flat folding chair seen in the foreground of this picture, but I will probably leave the other lounger at home.

Bought an Outback Porta Privy.
http://www.evergreen-outdoors.net/ou...orta_privy.htm

I did buy the big shower tent from Cabelas yesteryear, but have not set it up.
Still in the bag.
After reading more reviews of it online and others on other forums who have set it up, it is pretty much a two person job, lots involved with it.

The Outback one sets itself up, much like those pop open tents.
I will attempt to set it up this weekend if I can squeeze it into my busy schedule.

This will be used for the Zodi shower and the PETT toilet to replace the shower tent that came with the PETT.

im liking the electric, its quiet & small. but on the topic of ridiculous camping setups, my buddies dad said they used to have little competitions on who could out-do each other on trips and one of em brought a trailer for all the gear, and after unloading it put a tarp in it to hold water, then used a gas pump to fill it with water from the river and then hooked a recirculation hose to the engine cooling system to heat the water...hot tub ridiculous status.

I bet that smelled great!

heres my homemade version I made for the outdoor shower. I got the tub on craigslist for 60 bucks, and used some old barn wood for siding, some old table leafs for steps, and an old bbq for a heat exchanger. hooked it all up to a harbor freight pump and in about 35 minutes you have yourself a hot tub.

life is good here in chico...

yes I know, i just thought id show it off since corey put up that sweet camping set up.

the only issue I see from the camping one is a smoky fire. those copper pipes condensate quite a bit and make a dirty fire, so Id put it a little ways from the love boat. getting the technique down for a perfect heating fire is key too.

maybe ill make a portable one now....nahh!! i like cold-ass snowmelt just as much as warm...keeps that sack tight!

I will have a full review on all my new camping gear I have bought since my last trip in my review thread in this section after the next time I can get out camping again.
But for now, here is a simple porch setup of the Outback Privy shower/crapper enclosure.
A few of my neighbors were very impressed with it when they saw how small it was folded up, then set up.

I did watch the video at their site on how to fold it up, and it helps.
You want to rest the small end (top of tent) up against a wall as seen in their video.
http://www.evergreen-outdoors.net/ou...privyvideo.htm

Do pretty much like she is doing.
It took me a few times, but I got the hang of it.
Opening it up is harder, as I could only get it half way.
My neighbor was watching me, and he pulled out from the top and it snapped open.
Same way to start to put it down to get it folded half way, you take the corner to the right of the door and push it to the opposite corner to break it down to just two sides, then you fold those in to make it look like the beginning of the video where she is going to fold it for storage.

Hard to explain, you will have to do try.
Here are some pictures.
It has a vent in the rear to snake your shower hose in, but I will be keeping the Zodi shower sans the burner inside so I can pump it up when it gets low.

Plenty of room for the PETT toilet too, in fact this is slightly larger than the PETT tent that came with my toilet.

It has a skylight opening that zips open, perfect for someone that is tall to look out while he/she is showering.

Towel hanger on the outside too, so it does not get wet when showering, and you have a zipper you open to have access to your hanging towel.

I did not put the bottom in, but it goes in with Velcro, and there is also a tent stake loop by the Velcro, and you pull it outside/under to put the stake in.
Guyline loops are up the sides.

Overall I am pretty impressed with this new shelter.

I'm 5'11 and sleep in the back of my 1st gen. 4runner all the time and with the tailgate up. However in order to make it comfortable I took the back seats out and put carpet covered plywood panels that bolt in to the seat back brackets. Then I took the roll bar out, got tired of hitting my head on it!
A foam pad, some mosquito screen for the windows, homemade awning for the tailgate and I sleep through rain, snow or high winds that make tents sound like fire crackers!

Oh, forgot it's about the gear!
Okay, a Jetboil for quick coffee in the morning while still in my sleeping bag, a propane hot water shower with a 12v pump (just gotta have lots of water), and my mountain bike cause I get way out there with no backup and I know I can ride out of any place I can drive to.

Saw this posted over on IH8MUD's camping section.
TriLite Wash Station

Kind of a cool idea.
I use two wash basins now as seen below, and stooping/squatting down can be hard on the knees sometimes.
Sucks getting old
