I see Great Blue Herons everyday at work, pretty big birds.
They are quite big looking when flying due to their legs hanging straight out back. I should take my camera to work. Two of them sit out on a log in one of the man made lakes at work on our nature walking trail. We also have Bald Eagles and Osprey there too.

When I lived in Cleveland, there were a ton of them.
Was great to go blasting down the river on the jetski and see them all take flight...

I took these on the Farmington River in Barkhamsted. Pentax K10D, Sigma 70-300 1.4:5.6 APO DG at 300mm - no tripod, most of the image cropped out. ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's a full frame shot at 75mm, I wanted to wait for the eagle to fly off but the battery decided it was a good time to die, so no 'on the wing' shots. ![]() Last edited by bob857 : 11-09-2008 at 01:40 PM. |

Yeah, and still relatively rare around here so I was taken by surprise. I had been hoping to get some pictures of beavers so when this guy came flying up and landed in the tree across the river I wasn't ready for him.

Nice pictures Mokai. Putting out bait to lure the little buggers to you - good idea.
