Stacking 2 Frames as a lift

My 87 Pickup has a cracked frame from a combination of rust and off road shennanigans. I'm planning on getting a new used frame for it and was thinking I would also do a small body lift to it at that time so I can move up from 31 to 33 inch tires. While researching lifts I came across frame stacking. putting one frame over another and removing the suspension attachments from the top frame and the body attachments from the lower and bolting/welding them together. Seems like it would give me the advantage of keeping stock suspension and an even stronger frame for the truck. Wondering if anyone here has done it, seen it done or has any pics, info, ideas etc. Just thinking logistics before I try anything.

Never seen it done, and I've been around for a long time, due to the unpopularity of this mod, and a million other reasons I can think of, I would stay away from this IMO.

It would be like stacking Rosie O'Donnell on top of Roseanne Barr. You could do it. Not sure you'd want to, though. I'm sure the ride would be terrible and too much mass.

Seems to me it would make your truck look like a major pile of crap.

Just swap the frame.

Never heard of it, but I don't see how that could be a good idea. Nevertheless, I'd read the write-up if you did it!

Sounds like an awesome idea. While your at it, go steal some scaffolding off a jobsite and build some ladder bars. i take that back, as I do not condone crime. Which is why you should not stack two frames together, as I would consider it a capital crime, esp on a Toyota.

not entirely bad idea

seems if you were going to do that, you should make it cool. put a celica body on a truck frame, that'd really P.O. the jeeps you have to pull out of the mud. (i pulled a hummer out of a snow bank with my front wheel drive celica last winter, H2s are so worthless, and celicas rock)

pic?

do you mean a celica on a truck frame, or the far more common sight of a toyota pulling out a hummer? ha ha. i know what you mean, if you see it again, snap a pic and post it.
