Sarah Palin-- OHV ally!

She would be awesome to represent us OHV users! And a life member of the NRA to boot!

Her husband is a four time winner of snowmobiling's most daunting race (2000 miles)-- the Iron Dog!

And huge advocate for domestic oil and natural gas production--- meaning WE GET TO KEEP DRIVING the rigs we love!

I'm for the folks who endorse the most individual freedom, self reliance, personal responsibility and moral rectitude. Government is not the solution. It is the obstacle.

The govt. big enough to give all that is wanted, is powerful enough to take everything you have.
(paraphrased from a Republican Convention speech by Prseident Gerald Ford circa 1974)

Only difference between OBama and OSama is BS.

I believe the truth of the matter is that the houses belong to his "wealthy" wife.

I only own one house, pretty easy to remember but what if you owned several, say as many houses as you have pairs of shoes. Do you know how many pairs of shoes you own? I sure as hell don't.

McCain already had my vote. He may not be who I wanted, but he's who I got. Being from Texas, my biggest issue is illegal immigration. He might as well be a democrat with his views on that. I haven't read up on Mrs. Palin yet to see her views.
As far as Obama goes. He's a salesman. He's a good speaker. He has no experience, no original ideas, and no idea how to put his plans together.

That and he REALLY wants to increase and add taxes on and to EVERYTHING!!!

I am a flaming chrome plated constitutional conservative. I believe in personal stregnth through confronting and surmounting adversity with as little peripheral help as possible. As a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, so goes society. The integrity of social order relies on rugged individuals and vigorous, stable families. Anything that dilutes or erodes those basic elements even in isolated cases, is to be abandoned for the sake of human refinement and edification.

Socialism decays both the individual and the family structure. It prevents folks from fulfilling their potential and stunts longterm quality of life for the illusion of security regardless of the natural consequences of poor decision making and foolishly myopic perspectives. It removes from the individual responsibility and eventually personal freedom. For freedom must be accompanied by moral responsibility to endure everlastingly.

Without specifically indicating a particular candidate, I declare my allegiance to those most removed from Socialism, Marxism, Communism, Fascism, Lennonism. In this political race, there is one candidate that believes in, acts as and endorses essential elements of all of those fatally flawed social systems. He has behaved and declared so as well as surrounded himself with others who've done the same and whose vision it is to change the United States from moral captialism to dependant socialsm. If change is what we need, then that is not the kind of change we can sustain.

There is more, but I have to go pull some weeds.

So thats why fuel prices are highest in AK. Can you quantify that statement or are you just good at repeating the rhetoric of talk show hosts?
Is it really fair to look at the total profits in dollars of the largest industry in the world? If thats the case, then look at the total amount of taxes paid as well (both from them and us). Big Government makes a lot more on a gallon of fuel than Big Oil.

Im so sick and tired of people talking obout "Big Oil" and how we should limit their profits. Whats next, Big Food, Big Retail, Big Construction, ect? Sounds like Communism to me.

I'm saying that its pretty funny that all you need to do to become president is have a ton of money. Look at her biography, and her husbands. They have their fists deep inside the brown canal... (uh hehehe)... Oil runs our nation. I just feel that we're going to keep postponing advancements in energy by electing those who are in the oil business. You've got to be kidding yourself if you think that she does not have a personal agenda with the entire energy crisis and being elected.

Pro environment is not a bad thing. Once again we can talk about extremists in any arena causing problems.

Lastly, she is pretty good looking, and i'll probably vote for her, er I mean McCain... id rather have a hot prez once McCain falls down a flight of stairs.

Oh and PS. I dont want offshore drilling simply cause I don't want to step in tar every time I visit my sanctuary. lalalallaa

PSS...

Wonder where that tar is

I was about to say.... Texas coast isn't nasty because of drilling..

And yes, China hooked up with Cuba and now dfrills off of our shores. You can bet your bottom dollar that if they have a spill and it mucks up Florida's coast that China nor Cuba are not going to pay or do a damn thing to clean up.

Our nation is run on cheap energy, including oil. Oil does not run our nation...yet. That is why we need to work toward energy independence.
We are not postponing anything IMO. The market will flush out emerging technologies as price/demand dictates. Let the market work-- encourage it, sure, but don't force it...unnatural forces upon a free market (socialism/marxism) end very badly.

As far as oil in the ocean-- 99.9% of oil "spills" in the oceans are naturally occurring. Oil is released on a regular basis from natural fissures in the oceanic crust. It is no big deal, very natural.

I think it's funny that McCain goes after Obama for lack of experience and then he picks a VP with a whole lot less and one very few amercians have even heard of.
She's also the govonor (only 2 years and before that was mayor of a city of 5000) of a state with less people in our "small" city of Denver and what if McCain, who is 72 and has cancer, goes down Palin is now in charge which isn't something I'd feel comfortable about.

This thread remind me of how alot of republicans on this board just blindly supported Bush and his anti-constitutional tactics and supported the Iraq war and see where that has gotten us.

This move by McCain is more about image than substance and is a last ditch effort to save his campaign but I think this move just helps the Dems.

She has run a state-- that is more than we can say for Obama. She has an excellent anti-corruption record and has fought (and won) to reduce property taxes in Alaska. She has returned billions of dollars of state oil lease revenues to the people of Alaska. She has streamlined over 40 unneeded social programs.
She has actual executive experience. Obama has NONE.

Obama has only been in the Senate for a couple of years and has been busy running for president the ENTIRE TIME!
You can't even count his state legislative experience since he was too much of a wuss to vote anything but "present" on most bills. That is what political cowards do-- vote "present" to avoid appearing to actually take a stand on anything that could be held against them in the future. What a wuss.

0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN
15% (no change)

OBAMA
39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

MCCAIN
- 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA
Restore the inheritance tax
Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!
