Angry Open Letter: If I find out Who the Source of this is, it's on.

RE: http://www.yotatech.com/f121/no-emai.../#post50618664

Just an FYI, in the last 6 weeks I've been receiving countless spam emails that I have no reason to receive, as my emails been pretty much secret for almost 5 years. The only thing that's changed during the time is the ownership change with YotaTech. I'm not trying to say it's a direct result of the sale, but I can gaurantee that somebody here's pulling members emails and selling them off themselves, perhaps as a means to harm YotaTech. That info's private and the person9s) involved need to respect this.

If you've a personal vendetta against this forum, just go away, there's plenty of room for you out there in cyberspace. Using other's info to obtain a goal is just childish.

Sorry to be pissy about this, but as a result I am putting in a false email address now, and it'll make it harder for friends to contact me.

The person who's done this is in a serious word of trouble with me. I suggest you go elsewhere, because if this continues, well, let's leave it at I'm not somebody to be trifled with, and I will seek restitution.

Fellow members, I honestly am taking Corey at his word, but as for other's here, I can't say the same.

Corey, I suggest this be looked into further, not cool. We're a family here, and that means the person(s) doing this don't belong here.

Respect our private info, and don't use it to forward your own needs outside of this forum.

Shane, I am getting zero spam, and I have had the same email address since '99.

There are many sources that can open you up to spam, such as registering on sites for other products or services.
I contacted the parties here, and I have been assured this is not happening here.

I get zero spam at my main email. At my other email that I use for signing up for questionable sites, such as myspace, photobucket, various radio stations, and shops, etc., I get plenty o' spam. That way, I can have one for my friends, and one for the other spam prone sites. Just for the record, Yotatech looked like a trustworthy site to me when I signed up, and it went on my main email. Yes, the same one that my friends, and family get to use. They say Yotatech is a big ol family, and I can agree pretty well with that.

Oh, I forgot, I do get lots of spam though, but not to my main email account that is with my ISP, and also used here for registration and every other forum I belong too.

I get spam to my YT email address account, but that is only because the email is out in the open for spam harvesting bots to glean from threads where I have publicly posted my YT email address.

You do realize that the way YT is setup, normal members can't see what your email address is unless they've already emailed you and your replied back. As far as I know, the only people who have access to your email are the admins and that has already been addressed here.

I haven't received any spam mail either, I've had the same address since '02.
Obviously, if you post your address in a thread you're very likely to get tagged but other than that, YT is a pretty email-safe environment.

And just for the record Shane, you also stated you thought you were banned yesternight, not so.

I checked your account at 1:10 am PST about 10 minutes after I stumbled out of my bed this morning.

Saw your new email address (funny one), yes I have access to every email address on this forum if I am looking up a profile to see why it might be shut off.
Your account was not shut off, never was.

If you had changed your email account the other night and were trying to post, your account will not work until you confirm your new email address change in a new server generated letter that gets sent out to you.

Whatever, Cool beans. Please follow my request to delete my account in full, as I know after this I would pull this post and hide it away.

i joined Yotatech hoping things had moved into greener pastures, but apparently not.

For the record, there's some amazing IT and programming folks out there that, well, needless to say put out some incredible programs that not just the home user has access to. You cannot hide anymore on the internet, and honestly, Corey, if I were you, I'd really look into things. This isn't just some zealot pawning Star-Trek trinkets outside of Area 51.

I gave you a honest and informed bit of feedback and you don't want to hear it, and apparently nobody else does either. Not to good for Yotatech, or internet Brand's image, but what do I know, I'm just a business manager with years of experience.

Regardless, I was wrong in my judgement in both joining, giving things a second chance recently, and letting things go with trust, my bad. I intend to fix that.

It's your ship Captain, I'm just staying in port. Delete this account in full, and oh yeah, I hereby state that I wish to retain full copywrite to any pics, advise, and gems of intellect I've bestowed here.

Thanks and Good Luck.

Note: Friends-sorry things are like this, but those who know me personally aren't going to be the least bit surprised I'm willing to "Call a spade a spade."

I don't see why you wouldn't use some sort of dummy email account to register with forums, post on the net, etc. Unless your anti-virus takes care of it--which I would think, even then, you are going to have some garbage get by the filters. My dummy account gets around 1000 or so emails daily, and I get an email to that account in which I'm actually interested maybe once every month or so.

I only get about a bagillion emails a day and my Google mail spam filter catches them all and then flushes them for me. Spam is going to happen, you cannot escape it and you will be assimilated if you are on the internet at all.

Find something important to get your feathers all ruffled over.

I rarely get spam at the email address I registered with here. I've also used it to sign up on several other forums. How do you react when someone sends junk mail to your house? That's your home address!

No YT addy related spam, ever...well, since '02. Bit of a stretch to go from random spam to libeling Corey. Four Runner, you owe him an apology.

i agree. its like, dude, its the INTERNET. you DOWNLOAD stuff UNKNOWINGLY in cookies that gives spammers your email address, so why would you blame ONLY YT? sure i get spam, but 1000 a day? no. i get on average maybe 50 spam emails a day. and ive had the same address for going on 6 years now. so if you're gonna blame anything or anyone, blame the internet, and the guy who invented it. i believe an apology is in order, my friend.

I really hate spam too, my dad use to buy it when I was a kid. Nasty stuff. Seriously I get maybe a couple dozen spams a year slipping in and with a hotmail account to boot. No spam filters, no anti-virus, no nothing. I've even posted my email here, no problems. Corey is owed an apology, YotaTech members are owed one too. Go ahead and spam my email, I'll tell my mommy and I won't play with you anymore. This site is a great source of info and a great place to hangout, if you can't deal with spam mail, spam email, solicitors, flyers and the people that ask "can I help you sir" well I guess you have much bigger problems. Too bad for you. Corey and the rest of the mods "thank you" for an awesome site.

Yep, but I posted an open and honest thought, never namecalled, but did call someone on their input, I'm sorry to other forum members if they've taken things wrong, but not for my opinion.

..and also, Yep. Somebody should apologise to me, I never name called or ranted, posting a double set of contradictory posts. I showed my point, backed it up and moved on, based on the fact that the spam's now stopped to the email acct and is somehow routed to the other false acct. Funny how that worked huh.

So all in all, I still stand by my post and input. I apologise to anyone not directly involved in this, but by taking things into your own hands to come to someone else's defence you're engaging yourself in the discussion. Remember, that this is where people as members can provide input and feedback, no matter how direct or sugarcoated the input is.

I'm sure that a lesson's been learned, and things will move on, so again, later, take care.

Name calling, you think saying that you are paranoid and accusing the forum here of spamming you is name calling?

Paranoid is not name calling, you were making accusations.
I would like to see some of these emails, you can forward them to me, and the new ones from your new yahoo account.

And the content of said emails, are they:
Automotive related
Sexual in nature, such as breast enlargement, penis enlargement
Debt consolidation

And for the record, I contacted IB once again on this matter, there is no email harvesting going on here.
Members have stated right here in this thread they are not getting any.
If someone was going to harvest emails, they would do it all, they would not pick on just you.

Show me the emails, you can email me at corey at yotatech dot com
