New Jersey Night Club - "Get lost fatties"

FEMALE clubbers were refused entry into Havana nightclub on Saturday night for being too fat.

Police were called to calm the situation outside the Halkett Street club as bouncers and manager Martin Sayers allegedly told women to ‘go away and lose some weight’.

Over 20 women are expected to give statements to the police today and a Facebook page, labelled Havana Club Jersey Discrimination and using an image from US cartoon Family Guy, has already attracted over 100 supporters calling for Islanders to boycott the club.

Georgina Mason was one of the ladies refused entry. The 23-year-old, who works for Lloyds TSB, had been enjoying a night out with friends when it turned sour.

‘About five or six or us got to Havana at about 11.30 pm and the bouncers said we were not allowed in because we were too big. I told them not to be ridiculous and asked to speak to the manager,’ she said.

‘When the manager came out he would not look at me directly but said that they had received too many complaints about fat people and he told me: “Go and lose some weight before you can come in – fat people are bad for business.”

It is true they are bad for business, it is hard for the guys to get to their hot looking friends, also known as a cock block. Guys do not want to go to clubs if their is alot of cock blocking going on

Why don't they just open a fatties night club? They can rake in dough! Just think have their one club they have now then open another one for the big people.

I guess you haven't been to many clubs. Clubs make more money off the men than the women. The men buy the drinks. Ever hear of ladies night? Well they do not pay a cover charge and/or also ladies drink for free. Most women do not need alot of alcohol to get drunk or to get a buzz. The guys are the ones who pay the cover charges, consume the most alcohol and buy majority of the drinks. From the owners view it makes perfect sense.

Guys are going to go were the good looking women are and that is what this club is trying to do. Not saying fat people cannot be good looking. If some of you like your women big more power to ya, nothing wrong with that but most guys like their women average or skinny.

Oh and to answer your question Mr. Martinez, skinny women would most likely get their drinks for free but I highly doubt skinny guys would

Since its a private business, its up to the owners discretion. And since he cannot obviously be standing there the whole time, he leaves it up to the bouncers. The manager was called, and he made his opinion clear.

In the eyes of the law, it is VERY different from race and religion. Weight is not a protected class. There was no legal discrimination.

However, image goes a long way. Public opinion may turn against the club.

That club can *edit* off, really. This kind of BS is what causes girls to starve themselves, get complexes, and do really stupid stuff.

There is no need to be cruel. People bitch about the state of the world these days. This is a prime example of why its so bad. This club deserves to go under.

Will they? Probably not.

Guys don't buy fat girls drinks. Guys don't go to where fat girls hang out.

Clubs want guys to come to their club and buy drinks.

If your club is run with fat girls then your business goes down.

If your business goes down, you get pissy.

Then you tell fat girls you can't come in your bad for business.

Fat girl cries, and blames club for not letting them in.

Simple reality here is, (even though it's harsh) nobody likes looking at overly fat people. Another reality is that it's their own fault they are fat.

At least it's my own fault that I'm large/ bordering fat.

Thats not necessarily true, it may NOT be their own fault. There could be plenty of folks who are born with certain disorders or faults which may make it painful or impossible for said folk to move or exercise.

Or they may be depressed and it makes them eat and be more depressed. You may say thats their own fault but I bet if you could be in their head for a few days you'd change your tune.

Of course theres probably a few that it really IS their fault too.

I hope the 'club' burns to the ground, with the owner inside. Night clubs are lame anyways.. a bunch of yuppies dancing to silly music.. yay.
