My hunting weapon of choice:

With the new baby i have not been able to go this year. Nothing wrong with a cross bow. Most people dont realize that its still a hard sport even with a cross bow. Here is the one i took last muzzleloader season.

He was about 7.5 years of age. I crawled on my stomach for about 30 yards to get the shot. My father in law is in the pic with him (below) He is about 6ft. to give you an idea of the deers size. I sent it off to have kiebosa sausage and they got over 100 pounds of sausage out of him.

crossbow? you can't use a crossbow around here.... well maybe during rifle season only.

my girlfriend's dad spends weeks out in eastern oregon on foot, with only his bow. he had a scare with a bear.... chased it up a tree and when he shot it he realized momma was in the tree too. he spent all night shouting and hollering at the base of the tree trying to sound like he was bigger and there were lots of people around (he was all alone). finally made it out without momma bear coming after him. so for his birthday i got him a real big knife as protection because he refuses to carry a revolver.

I use almost every part of the bear minus the liver, intestines and bones. Bear meat is my absolute favorite (dont knock it till you try it). Especially one that is on acorns, oh man-sooo good!!
Here is one from last year and one from this year.
last year 350lbs
I must say... I wasn't raised in a culture of hunting so I don't really "get" the sport, but going after something that can get you first if not careful seems to make the playing field just about as fair as possible.

Respect for your game of choice.

For me it is more about subsistence rather than sport. I basically survive by hunting and fishing. From what I hunt in the ocean and the mountains nearby I literally keep myself functioning.
For a plethora of reasons I have all but stopped eating CAFO food.
I certainly don't identify with the typical cable TV hunting show hunter. I would rather not get into a huge philosophical internet thread debate so I will leave it at that. I will agree with you when you say "I really dont "get" the sport.
I don't really "get" it eithor.

So, in a thread you started entitled "If it's Brown it's down boys" where your first post asks "any of yall fellers killed any big deer, elk or pretty much any big game?" you post a picture of President elect Obama... but do it in such a way to show you are not a racist?

I'd hate to see what you'd post to show that you were a racist.

No big game on the hoof but I've caught some pretty big fish- 6 1/2 foot sailfish-released so didn't do a weigh in- 43lb yellow fin tuna-mmmm tuna!- 50 lb redfish on 15lb tackle.

Most of hunting has been waterfowl, dove and quail which aren't known for their size- but when a Canadian goose is coming in hot and straight at you-it sure looks big!
