I've really never done anything bad enough that I EVER thought running was a 'better' option. WTF?

Got pulled over three times...

68 in a 55: Got a warning and a snow report as I was on my way to Lake Tahoe. Cool ass police man.

Unobstructed Exhaust System: Police man admitted he wanted to see the dual exhaust on my 89 4Cyl 4X4.

Exhibition of Speed: Had a great laugh with the police man about my 114hp Toyota 4x4 exhibiting anything resembling speed. He heard screaching tires and assumed.

Trust me, as you get older, you WILL pay in more ways than one. They are there to protect you when your being an idiot. Some may have questionable means to an end, but running is not an option.

all of you are hypocrites, I know all of you have broke the law once or twice in your lives. so don't give me this crap about how I was stupid. I don't need any of you to tell me what I did was wrong, I already know. I knew the cops would come, I went because everyone at my house left to see it, so I drove my car instead of piling up in my friends pathfinder. and who ever said I need to think of the "what if" factor, If the cop would have flipped, good it would have made it easier for me to get away. "what if" you drive down the road tomorrow and you die? is that "what if" thought going to keep you from driving? so that theory doesn't make sense. all of you are going to do what you want and I'm going to do what I want, so don't waste your time to tell me what "you" think I should and shouldn't do when I know very well whats best for ME.

You can not post crap like that and expect people to not comment on how dumb you are.

put on your big boy pants and start takeing responsibility for yourself and your actions.

OR

Don't post crap like that if you don't want other people to give an opinion.

that's exactly what I'm doing, I'm simply giving everyone my opinion on what they have to say. what were my actions? the only thing I seem to have done wrong is posting this thread. all of you need to just reach down, take the tampon out, and live a little.

I'm 34 now this happened a about 4 years ago with an ex-friend of mine the same age so he was 30 at the time. He was almost home from a night of drinking (lives in rural area) when the blue lights flash. He decides he can out run them on the country roads he knows so well. He almost does until he takes a corner to fast and ends up in the ditch (nobody was hurt) the cops show up and hall him to jail. He finds out the only reason the found him was because they could see his tail lights way off in the distance. He gets out of jail and he has the brilliant idea to hook up a switch to the tail lights to turn them off. I guess the 4 months in county jail didn't teach him not to run from the cops

Just goes to show that some people never grow up! I am not saying that I have been the brightest bulb and always been legal, far from it, I have done my fair share of stupid and illegal things but I never ran from the cops I took my punishment because no reason to add anything else on top of the original crime. Besides no matter how fast you can drive you can't out run the radio.

hey people do it for the thrill. why did they climb mt everest, even though it would probably kill them? 'cuz we wanted to'. im all for wiring stuff to fool the cops... in my chevy i had the rear license plate (didnt have a front one) bolted on a motorized plate, so i pressed a button, and the plate slid back to reveal an arizona plate, JUST for fooling the cops.. LOL. then when the cops would leave, id press the button, and the CA plate would slide back over the AZ. LOL. finally got caught, the cop laughed his ass off so hard he peed himself, and let me off with a warning.. LOL.

Do what you want but I would imagine that out running the cops with a truck that has a switch to turn off the brake lights would be just one more thing to add to the list of crap you are going to be in.

The point wasn't so much about the switch just that instead of learning a lesson he went looking for a way to be better at running from the police. I would think that most of us would think that it was better not to run from the police after something like that. Heck even with your license plate switch you didn't use that to help you run from the police you let them pull you over and take your lumps, but not really sure what the different plates would do for you anyway since they could get your driving record from your drivers license and if they ran the plates it would come back to either a different vehicle, different owner or from a different state then which your drives license was issued in and what about tabs? Did you keep up on both state tabs. Seem like a lot of work for nothing. But then that's just me.

I had the plate on my bike on a hinge. When cruising down the freeway, I would flip it up to avoid the photo radars. I'm not saying I went around hauling balls everywhere, just that I liked to cruise at 80-85 in the HOV lane on the bike.

This is become really sad. You stated that you would be glad if the officer flipped his car. I guess you do not worry about the trivial things in life such as Criminally Negligent Homicide. Yes, you can be charged with it if a LEO is killed while chasing you. Even if he is not killed, but just injured you can be charged with assault. Listen, we all did something stupid when we were young. I did and I am now a police officer, so I give young people a break very often. But, only as long as they accept and admit that they did something wrong. If you run and I catch you, which is 99% of the time, hell is coming with me. Just remember that.

Im not saying its right, and although i told myself i wasnt gona post again in this thread u guys didnt help in the least calling him dumb and childish. You just got him to say more unthought out things allowing the flaming to continue haha. And im sure if you did anything bad that those speed bumps you mentioned wouldnt have stopped them. Being truthful and respectful towards cops in my experience by far works the best. You might be able to escape them 1 or 2 more times even. but it only takes a second for brown stuff to hit the fan and your world will come crashing down( haha trust me i know). And although these kinda stories are exciting, not a good idea to post on yota tech haha, too many people on here that like to scold people.

I'm gonna sway away from the drama and stick to the topic.

Does running from the cops include this?
I was on my way home from my GF's, paying attention to the road and not the speedo and was going 45 in a 35. I saw my local cop (i just passed into our town limits) going the opposite way and then glanced at my speedo and was like shoot. I saw him hit his brake lights and then turn around. By this time I was pretty far ahead and had already slowed down to 35. I could see him speeding to catch up to me (no lights or anything) I then promptly turned a block earlier than usual, then went down that street and cut across to the other street and then turned onto my street and into my driveway. None of these times was I speeding or doing anything illegal. I was curious if that would be counted as evading a police officer? I mean he didn't have his lights on or anything.

no, you're fine. the only time it would be 'evading' is if he had his lights on and you refused to pull over.
