when she stops shes sitting there crying when a guy comes out of his house to ask if shes alright... "i think i hit a dog!"... the guy goes and checks, and comes back... "ma'am... i think you hit a pig"... turns out a 700+ lb. pig just escaped her pen to go visit her piglets that were just weened from her... my mom hit it, it crumpled the hiid back into the windshield... the car actually ended up on top of the pig and slid for 80 feet, which is why her brakes didnt work... now we call my mom "The Sow Surfer"...

calm down people. I posted this to hear of your stories of either running from police or being pulled over. not so you can tell me I was "dumb" for running from the cops. first off our town has a curfew for people under 18 (it was 12), we were trespassing after hours on school grounds, and I dident have my license on me. so I had plenty reason to run and no they dident get my license plate I had my lights off there for my license plate lights weren't on and there was also another person in back of me so they dident see my license plate. if you havent had any interesting police stories you must be a real uptight person who doesn't need to post on this topic.

Now you need to chill. Calling them uptight people and telling them they have no reason to post in this section isn't going to make things better. Don't get upset at them cause they're trying to direct you away from trouble. They're older and more experienced and probably went through a lot of the same stuff we're going through now. This is an open forum and therefore they have the right to post their opinion on the subject. You were the one who invited them to post by creating this thread. Now, why were you out after curfew when you knew about it? Why were you trespassing? Why didn't you have your license on you? And why were you driving with your lights off? I personally think you have a right to get caught. Anyone who knowingly breaks the law should get caught. Including me. I'm not saying I don't break the law and am against anyone who does. I probably break the law every day while driving and I do think I should be punished for doing so. But I, and tons of other people, get away with it. Now for another story. I had just gotten my sweet '92 Corolla 3 speed auto in town with tinted windows and everything. I thought I was pretty hott stuff. I had just gotten my license a few months before and had my own car, etc. I was racing this old Mazda MX-3 and got smoked. Me being dumb I continued to speed up and passed him, cut in front of him, and got in the left hand turning lane at the next light (which was red). The Mazda goes straight and not 10 seconds after him a cop pulls up to the light, in the straight lane, and stops at the green light and just stares at my buddy and me, then drives away. I had been doing 75 in a 40 so I got extremely lucky. I wasn't so worried about dealing with the cop, but my parents lol

and WHO wants to get pulled over by the cops? if you know you can get out of it why not take the chance? if you enjoy being caught by the cops and dealing with court dates and tickets be my guest but I can guarantee most of America hates being pulled over by cops.
there was going to be a fight at the school between two girls, I knew the cops would come eventually I have no idea why they wanted to fight at 12 at the school of all places. I wasn't driving around with my lights off I had them off until I knew the cops wasn't in back of me. I have common sence and I know whats rite from wrong, I think everybody does. exactly, they can post what they want on here wasn't saying they can't, but so can I. There is no reason to run ever.
If you screw up, take ownership for it. In high school, we always had parties in random fields. When they would get busted everyone would run. I would stay there and talk to the cops. Ended up knowing them pretty well. The point was, I was doing something wrong, and I took ownership. They usually would just sit there talking to me while we had a good laugh at people who couldn't figure out how to get out of there. Now I know that it was a small town and it's different in bigger ones, but in my experience, if you just talk to the cop, don't be a smartarse and don't try to make excuses, they usually are pretty cool. There are exceptions, but oh well. At least you don't run and put everyones life in danger. |

unexciting except COPS get your heart going
I had had my new 85 4rnr about a month and knew the Alt was on its way out. The old lady and the dog and I went for a hike about 35 miles from here, by the time we got back to town I had to hit the lights and the volt meter was dropping.
We stop for burritos once back in the neighborhood, I stayed in the truck and keep it running. There is a cop sitting in the parking lot behind me, no biggy. She comes out with our grub and I go to back out and the truck dies. We push it back into the spot, and I proceed to change out battery (yeah I brought a spare) the whole time Johnny just watching(Thanks, but, no we don't need a hand, don't offer or anything!) Get the battery swapped, fire her up and head across the neighborhood. WHIRL>>WHIRL>>WHIRL. Here is my license and registration....I'm trying to make it home, quickly, I have a bad alternator. THIS IS A STOLEN VEHICLE, YOUR PLATES CAME BACK FICTICIOUS! uhhhh? HOW much have you been drinking? None(actually-none) Keep your hands where I can see them, I will be right back... ...I'm sorry sir it seems the Secretary of State hasn't processed your tags yet, have a good evening, I hope you are able to make it home. You better give them a call on Monday or you are going to get pulled over again. We made it home with the lights dim!

I just don't understand why you are justifying running from the police?? It is probably one of the dumbest things you can possibly do. The worst that might have happened to you was that you could have gotten a ticket for being out past curfew.
If you talk to a police officer like an adult they are more likely to just let you go without further consequence. If you act like a punk they will treat you like a punk. IMHO I would rather get a curfew ticket, than run from the cops and possibly get arrested and your truck towed to the impound lot. Then you will end up having to pay more money in court fees, and to get your truck out of impound. More than likely you would end up getting a couple hours of community service for being out past curfew. When I was 15 I was caught sneaking out with an older boy. The cops pulled us over called my mom and she had to come pick me up across town at 2am. The cops didn't do a darn thing. I can not tell you how many times I have been caught out past cerfew(which was 10pm in my hometown). Most cops that I know would rather tell you to go home or call your parents instead of writing tickets. They have bigger problems than some kids hanging out in a parking lot past curfew. Karma is a B-word man...You get what you give. |

Another time, same guy, I was with him and we had 2 other friends with us. We went to the drive in theater down in Wichita and our 2 friends wanted to drink. So they ran over and got some stuff and we went to our movie. We got bored and decided to head on home. My buddy had one drink, the other 2 drank a lot, and I didn't drink a drop. My buddy and me were both underage so we didn't wanna risk it really. Anyways, we got pulled over on the way home for 77 in a 70. The cop got to the window and immediately called out that we had been drinking. Our other 2 friends had bottles "hidden" in their hands, and we had more open, but unfinished, bottles in the back of an SUV. Its illegal to have an open container of alcohol in the vehicle so we were screwed and we knew it. But we cooperated and didn't lie or anything and he sent us on our way without even a written warning. Totally dismissed the speeding and having open bottles of alcohol in the car. It pays to accept responsibility for what you've done. Ask anyone who has ever done something wrong and owned up to it right away, they always get off easier

hey mike, yota tech is not the place to post anything "illegal" and i mean anything!
even though what you are describing IMO is not a big deal, there are allot of people on here that cant wait for the chance to call someone out on some petty bs. so my advice to you would be. don't run from the cops lol. and if you do. don't get caught, and don't post about it here.

What if someone had been walking around and you didn't see them? What if the cop wrecked out while chasing you? It just seems to me that it would have been easier to tell the cop that a friend had called and said they were broke down, andwhen you got there they were gone or something like that.
there was going to be a fight at the school between two girls, I knew the cops would come eventually I have no idea why they wanted to fight at 12 at the school of all places. I have common sence and I know whats rite from wrong, I think everybody does. exactly, they can post what they want on here wasn't saying they can't, but so can I.
Ok. So if your common sense told you that the cops would come, then why would you put yourself in that position? If you knew it was wrong then why were you there? And you're right, you can post whatever you want, just know that you can be called out on anything. I'm not trying to call you out or tell you that you are stupid. I'm trying to tell you that it was wrong. I know from being a dumb arsed kid at one point and am trying to give you some advice. It's like the joke between my Dad and I. "I tried to tell ya". He would tell me the right things to do and I would do things my way. Had I listened to his way due to his experiences, I would have had a lot easier time growing up instead of doing things the hard way. |

ok, only experience i got runnin from the cops was a week after i got my license. me, my gf at the time, and 3 other buddies were in my moms old isuzu trooper (chevy was in the shop getting a front disc brake conversion) were in proctor valley in jamul, ca, lightin off fireworks and offroadin. we hear a motor and see lights, so we book it. we were flyin thru proctor valley (6 miles of a dirt road) at like 80 in a 91 trooper, and they had a dodge ram 1500 set up for offroad... the lights, tires, etc.) they chased us back and forth, then just left. i think they were havin fun with us... then again a week later i got pulled over by a cop asking if i knew what proctor valley was, so i was like, uh, yeah, everyone does. so he asks me if i had ever been there. i said 'duh'. he asked if i had been there in the past week. i said ya, why? he said my trooper had been 'seen' offroading in an illegal area. so i said 'if it was illegal, why were there no signs saying 'keep out?' he said there doesnt have to be signs. i said 'bullsh***, go back to the acadamy and learn some laws'. he told me i had balls, and left.

This whole curfew concept is alien to me...do the police stop everybody they see after the curfew to check if they are underage? Or do they only enforce it if there is a reason to pull you over? I've never run from the cops because they all know my truck, and me, and my name, and where I live...it would be pointless and stupid, and the time they spend chasing me could be better spent stopping drunk drivers and thieves and the guy that broke into a 90 year old woman's house and killed her.

Except you don't have the common SENSE to spell RIGHT correctly.
If you had one thread of common sense, you wouldn't have been going back to school at midnight (who does that anyways?) to watch two girls fight. Seriously, of all the ignorant things I have ever seen posted, your first post takes the cake. Quote:

own up to your poor choices, step up and be a man. be accountable for your actions.
if i break the law, i pay the price. i don't expect to get off easy, or 'get away'. if you run from the cops you are a coward and a puss. plain and simple. Al

for the record, id go to a fight at midnight to see 2 girls fight, they get MEAN! but if the cops rolled up i wouldnt run, simply cuz i wasnt doing anything wrong. plus id tell the cops i didnt know i was trespassing, because there was no fence or gate or anything. (public property). but, the way i see it, if you cant do the time, dont do the crime.
