Smile He's back!!! (87 4Runner Stolen from Vacaville)

Got home Sunday night and had a call from the Alameda County Sheriff's Department that my 4runner had been found. So Monday morning we headed off to bring Stomper back home. At this point all we knew is that he had tires, a straight body and all his windows. That was all the information they would release. We didn't know if he would run or if anything had happened at all or if he had just been taken for a joy ride. When we arrived at the tow yard to pick him up it was a shock to see the condition he was in.
His tires and rims were gone, replaced with four mismatched tires on white steelie rims, basically the spare tires from four different vehicles. His front brush guard, winch and lights were gone, his gas door had been ripped off (literally), and the worst part of all THEY RATTLE CANNED HIS TOP ORANGE/RUST!!! Not even a decent tape job, there is overspray on all the windows and the rubber plus they had his rear window down so a lot of overspray is in the back interior.
The new roof light bar and four new lights were also taken and both license plates were gone.
As for the interior....
The stereo, cb, and my nav system are all gone. The plastic trim around the shifter is gone, the carpet has been torn out from the drivers feet area, there are holes in the dash and glove box, some tears in the head rests and then theres the trash!!!!
Where do I start, to say he looked more like a dumpster than a vehicle would be an understatement! I can't describe all that was stuffed into him, but the only area you could even fit into was the drivers seat, the rest was full of trash, stolen items, tools, info on other stolen vehicles, stolen credit cards, checks, pink slips and drivers licenses. All I can say is....look at the pictures!
So after assessing the damage and paying $265.00 to get Stomper released we checked the fluids (of course no gas at all), got some gas, put air in the tires and headed for home. Oh yeah, did I mention that they had removed the drivers side windshield wiperblade and thrown it in the vehicle.
This is what Stomper looked like when he was taken:

This is what he looks like now:

I have NO IDEA what the goo on the drivers door was....but it was NASTY

You can kind of see the "nice" paint job on the roof and the overspray on the windows.

And now for the interior:
Realize that when he was stolen there was NOTHING inside....So here's a little of what he came home with.

Here's a little more garbage and you can see the holes that they put in the dash.

Here's a picture of the damage to the center console, the missing stereo and cb and the torn out carpet....can't figure out that one either....OH and did I mention the SMELL.

Here's the quality paint job on the roof, you can see the overspray on the interior and the wiper, the picture is taken after I cleaned the window off.

Well, at least he's home and I can't wait to start over again and get him back to the rig he was....and more, Treknwil's slow build continues with just a few set backs.
The good thing in all of this is when they recovered Stomper the thief had been using him as his personal vehicle and had left all his tools and equipment to steal other vehicles inside of him, so there's one thief out there with a lot less "tools of the trade".

Stove burner, flex hose, rope, bunch of crap...
Looks like meth addicts stole your crap pawned the rest, bought some more meth, got high, tweaked out and ran... Probably went and jacked another unsuspecting victim...

I hope those thieves get whats coming to them. It's such a shame when a stupid prick decides to vandalize a perfectly good classic truck. Even if he stole it, why put all the holes in the dash and paint the hardtop. Thats just disrespectful.. i wish i could find one of these scumbags while they are trying to steal one..

Keep an eye on your local craigslist for these items.

These idiot tweakers always try to sell this stuff on CL. Especially things like the winch, stereo, etc.

Sorry to hear that bro, I always hate to hear some jerk/P$*%/a@#$(%). Decides to rip someone off and vandalize their property.

Well on the brightside, you did get your truck back, you still have the opportunity to fix it up, a lot of people never find theirs.

I guess its time to install a gps unit into your truck after you fix it up again.

GOOD luck with the rebuild.

Are you going to try and return the peoples credit cards/ licenses? Maybe they will give out a reward?
Longshot, i doubt it, but at least you would have some good karma(i guess)!

Once again, good luck fixing it back up!
Now you can think back about everything you did that you would have changed and make it better!

Thank God! they found your truck. I'm so glad

Just start over buddy and put a kill switch or 2 in it.

Did the idiots at least leave the goodies you installed underneath? Please say they did.

I am glad you got it back. It is bs that you can put so much in something for some cracker smacker to steal so he can fill his crack pipe. Makes me want to hire a midget with a shotgun! You need to post a list of parts on here, see what you can get.

I am so glad you got it back!
It can be rebuilt, you got the technology.

Yeah, it looks like tweakers were setting it up to use as a rig to rip off others stuff to sell to support their habit.

Well [looking on the bright side] you did get a few useful items out of the deal... the safety vest is good to have on the trail or changing a tire on the road at night, the windshield cover will protect the dash and keep the cab cool, and rope is always useful...], I'm surprised the cops left the credit cards and other stuff in the truck, you'd think the crime scene techs would have recovered all that evidence to use against the tweakers...

As other posters have said at least you got her back in one [sort of] piece...

To get rid of the smell you will have to replace the whole interior coverings/carpets at least. You also should disassemble all the air ducting and wash/clean it very well, if it was meth heads that took it there could be all kinds of chemical residues in there some of which are extremely toxic...
You'll need a new dash anyway so I would'nt worry about that, if you're keeping it pull it out and wash it and all the other trim too, you can't be too careful... after all you don't want some dog at the border, or roadside to "like your smell" lol
Good luck Aviator

Crime scene techs. yeh. Cops could car less about stolen vehicals. There attitude is you got it back so what. Also make sure they take you out of the stolen vehical database. Cops are not the smartest creatures unfortuntaley and it make for a really no fun traffic stop when your vehical pops up as stolen. I can say that from personal experiance.

Here's my recipe:

Take one or more perpetrators.

Add in a windowless room.

Mix in one Louisville Slugger.

Beat for about half an hour.
