Thanks for the sticky!
I'll get the plate numbers up here when I get home from work. I don't have pics, unfortunately, but it's a stock white 4runner (except wheels and rear bumper) in spotless shape. The other ideosyncracies is that it has black door handles despite the chrome bumper and grill. And a key-lock fuel door rather than the cable release. No rear sag (actually rear axle is on 2" blocks, and I had brand new Downey springs in the back waiting to be installed!), but also no major lift. Front wheel plastic center caps are drilled to allow the Aisin hubs to poke through. |

No news so far.
SF PD actually said they have a high recovery rate, and the Po usually are never optimistic about anything... so I've got my fingers crossed. |

Did you have it alarmed and the club on it? I know the club is easy to defeat but they seem to leave them alone with it on. One report taker told me they havent seen anything stolen with one on is 18 years.

Well, it's much better than it could have been... The ignition key casing was broken but the barrel was left in the car and still works fine (though is obviously not secure anymore), the faceplate on the stereo and my fastrak responder were stolen, and they backed it into something. Then it was left abondoned in Oakland where someone sawed off the cat.
The good news is that the rest of the stereo was left behind, as well as my tools (!), and I have an all-pro bumper so while it lost some paint, there was no other damage. I can't believe no one stole the wheels. As far as I can tell it was stolen by a bunch of SF State students or hopefulls to go on a meth/heroine binge. I'm no drug expert so maybe someone else can clear it up for me. Here's what I found in the car: - Lots a cheap, trashy porn mags, a broken porn DVD, and a case for a porn CD - a pack's worth of cigarette butts, and empty pack of Marlboro lights - Lots of bic pens, and a few ink tubes from bic pens with the outside white tube gone. (meth?) - sunflower seeds everywhere, about half a bag's worth in the glove compartment (meth?) - One broken glass pipe (meth?) - two thick rubber bands, cut. (heroine?) - two different kinds of shoe polish (huffing?) - a bottle of old spice shaving cream, mostly full (either huffing, or jerking to the porn) Now for the bizarre: - not one, but TWO aftermarket rearview mirrors, one of which was installed over my rear view. - one ashtray, brand new, from another car or from a Kragen. - one hardcover copy of A Purpose Driven Life - one SFSU course catalog I'm just glad to have my truck back, and now I get to get hosed by insurance as I filed the claim, but I don't think the damage is going to much above my $500 deductable. So my rates will go up even though I'll barely get any reimbursement. |

Yup, the Rick Warren book... maybe trying to turn their life around and fell off the wagon? Who knows...
Anyway, I've got the truck back so the sticky can come down. Thanks everyone for keeping an eye out while it was gone. The good news is, my deductible was lower than I thought and it's a no fault event so it won't hurt my premiums. By the time the shop is done, it may be better than it started! Last note, is that I was (but shouldn't have been) surprised at how easy it was to break the ignition key barrel... install a kill switch if you haven't already. An 8 year old could steal one of these. |
