filed a report yesterday but the cops can't do much. and it's not going to mexico. it's not leaving this island. if anything it's probably been stripped. the guy who is suspected of doing it might want to head to mexico though. he's pretty screwed now.

If you ever get it back, kill switches are in order. !st gens are so easy to steal, anyone who has one should have at least 2 kill switches installed.

its BACK!!!!!!

by some weird ass change of luck, my 4runner was brought back to me. All in one piece.

It's missing everything that was inside, but at least I have my trail rig back.

Oh and get this: they even cleaned it up for me. It looks pressure-washed, and someone took off the drivers side hub and did some cleaning. maybe if i'm lucky they replaced my broken seals lol

Great to see you got her back!!! Switches are easy, the thieves determination is the problem. Just a simple toggle switch in the + lead to the coil will work. If you don't drive it often pull the coil wire out and put it somewhere else. If you want to go through the hassle get a spare distributor cap, and swap it out with the one with the wires in it labeled all nice of course, not cool if your in a hurry though. Might be an answer for a trail rig you seldom drive.

What the heck!?!?!

Glad you got it back.

I've got the top off mine right now and it scares me to leave it anywhere! It is alarmed... but alarms don't stop thieves.

Sounds like a thoughtful thief... he wanted your stereo stuff I guess and pressure washed it to try to remove any finger print/DNA evidence he may have left behind [probably a CSI fan]... on the other hand you should make sure the local/state cops know about the strange way your truck came back to you it may have been used for something more evil than a simple stereo grab...
you don't want to get dragged in just because some jerk "borrowed" your ride w/out permission...
another idea... maybe your friends "punked" you?
