I got my EDIS stuff yesterday and a new injector loom I found on ebay for cheap!
And I got the 4crawler 2" body lift, thanks roger.
I am still looking for a RF1A Tcase after I found a rebuilt 700r4 this week but the swap is moving along.
Next step install the body lift!

update, just got the 700r4

Just got my 700r4 today with a new torque converter.
the tranny was built at a local shop for a guy 8 months ago (still has a thick layer of dust in the picture). he didn't pick it up so I got it for $300 plus $85 for the converter.
It's from an '84 but is supposed to have all the updates. after setting on the shelf for so long I will need to check it out when i install the adapter shaft.
now to find a good rf1a t case.

Update EDIS trigger wheel

Just got the harmonic balancer back from the machine shop the trigger wheel is a perfect fit almost needs to be pressed on but can work it on by hand, I think some chemical weld should hold it in place without having to weld it.
Ordered my swap parts(headers, Advanced Adapters 700r4 to toy t'case adapter kit and 4.3 swap engine mounts) today from Randy @ http://adventurous4x4.com//catalog/index.php
nice guy with very good prices-good discount over AA direct.

Also ordered the MSII 3.57 and relay box from DIYAUTOTUNE.com

I do not understand why you are using MS. Why not the factory Chevy harness?

For totally programmable fuel and spark control on a TPI mercruiser intake with distributorless ignition.
Some people buy a chip or settle for a factory program thats "close enough" when in reality if you can't program it to your application you don't know what you have.Thier software allows you to pull up the stored data from the runs and modify the A/F ratios etc..
I have a buddy running MS and the results are incredible! Loads of power excellent fuel economy and the cleanest spark plugs you have ever seen.

I think it would be worth the money, I am sure you could benefit from all of the programmability. My 22re never ran exactly right it seemed to run too rich most of the time and the AFM is restrictive. the stock setup -individual injectors with fuel rail lends itself to MS modification.
It's not expensive to build the MS http://www.diyautotune.com/
I will know more in a few weeks. Stay tuned!

sounds good. I would love to look into the 4.3 swap like you are doing, but money was tight and my engine needed to be replaced, so I went stocker. Got 500 miles on it.

If I had a manual tranny in mine I probably would have kept the 22re and just upgraded with the MS and EDIS ignition.
But since I am getting older I like the auto tranny and it demands MORE POWER!
One thing for sure, I am not doing another year of 2nd gear tached out for 30 miles on a 6% grade. "Can't take it - Can't stay!"

Megasquirt update

I installed the VR sensor for the trigger wheel with my homemade bracket today and....
MR. Postman brought an early Christmas present! The MS-II controller, relay box and harness.

It's getting closer! I can't wait to hear it run, still got a way to go for that.

The more I think about doing the MS on your 22re the more I think that it could be the perfect mod.

You could chuck the restrictive MAF and really open it up for power as well as fuel economy, something to think about..

I'm thinking about it. What version do I need to go with? I am horrible with electrical.

The MS-II 3.57 with a relay board and harness would support both spark and fuel totally programable and seems to be the easiest setup to install. I will do some more research and ask my MS guru buddy what he thinks.

The EDIS ignition is cheap and easy to install and gives you totally programable ignition when paired with the MSII. MS installation manual strongly recommends the EDIS.

I think this might be the way to go for all the 22re's- the PCB 2.2 , ($240) pre assembled kit, include the optional msns firmware for ignition control.

Adding the relay board ($88), and the relay cable($70) for ease of installation and circuit protection would be worth it to me.

I knew next to nothing about MS systems a month ago but after pouring over thier info I am starting to get the picture. If you decide to go this route you will have to learn the basics at least, It's a do it yourself (DIY) kit.
But it sure would be helpful to have a techie buddy nearby.(I have one)
This link will get you started with the right questions and I will try to post up most of my installation.

Pulled my 22re and 340F tranny today, took right at 5 hrs to have both sitting on the shop floor.
I am still waiting on the mounts, headers and Adapter kit - should be here this week but I wanted a few days to remove the old mounts, pressure wash and paint the engine compartment and mount the MS controller and relay. I also need to identify some wiring from the old harness.
I should make some serious progress this week.

Who knew that after you get all the crap out of the way these 4runners have alot of room. Won't need the steering reservoir, air box, coil and 90% of the engine loom.... I like this swap more every day!
