Right on man. Yah I don't think I'll be driving it really. Im still going through it. Noticed the bolts that were holding the drive shaft on were way to small of a diameter. There's just alot of Mickey mouse crap on it that I gotta make right but other than that the truck is complete. Even has a perfect headliner in the canopy too .

Divorsed case and a np205. Might be more work than you want to do though, and would have to change drivelines.

Nice 4runner man, I have a similar setup in my 89 pickup (302 to Toyota W56) and if you want to avoid any fabrication your best bet may be to have Marlin rebuild your tranny for the added HP; thats my plan when my W56 fails.. Retain stock shifter location, no fab for crossmember, no adapter for tcase.. The rebuild can cost you though.. Suprisingly my trans is holding up pretty well so far and I've put a few diesels to shame...

i know of most of the trails around and recently just started headin up cause i just got my sasd pickup. the great thing is how close they are to town. haha if you get low on gas or hungry it isnt a ball buster to run back into town to grab some food or anything. edgewick has countless trails that can get you wheelin for hours haha. thats where my display pic was taken at

Hows your transmission holding up? Use redline MT90 oil in that ting it will last longer and shift much better. DONT use cheap GL-5 gear oil llike the diffs take! If the bearings are good in it it should have no problem lasting behind a lil 302 as long as you drive it respectfully...

i was just on a web site yesterday somewhere looking at this same combo, they claimed the stock tranny would hold up except the most extreme conditions, they also claimed the stock toyota rearend was just as tough as the ford 9" i believe it was northwestoffroad.com,

Hey bdales, I see you haven't been on here in awhile, just came across your thread and was wondering if you have any updates on how your W56 is working out. I just finished my 302 V8 swap into my 86 4runner and am running a G52 trans behind it. The setup was originally in a 85' pickup that I bought and the PO said he ran it for about 15 yrs and its still holding up! Anyway just curious how yours is doing!

Hey guys! Long time no talk. The w56 actually held up great. And believe me I put it through hell.... My clutch just failed a couple weeks back... One of the bolts that holds the fly wheel on some how backed out 3/4".... Clutch plate was shredded and cracked. Trans is still good tho. I've put around 10000 miles on it. With occasional wheeling/being stupid. So now I've had my fun with it and my 305 is now suffering from low oil pressure... And I miss reliability. Was gonnachamge back to 22re but I've recently got into diesels and I'm going to be putting a Mercedes 3.0 5cyl om617 turbo diesel into it. Been looking into it and they make kits to bolt the w56 up to it. Found a engine already too. $350. But I'm missing a few things like ps pump, glow plug
Control box, and the oil cooler. Plus I wanna rebuild it first cause i want it to last.

Opinions??

Right on man! Yah it the power is fricken awesome off road. But with the gearing I got driving it on the road wasn't all that fun lol. I just want to keep experimenting.
Edit: if you ever want to go from the g trans to a w56 I can sell you my bell housing from northwest 4x4 for a good deal cause I dont need it any more

Best wishes on finding the tidbits you're needing to get it going!
