My 73 FJ40 V8 conv. Runs great but dies under load after a few
This is my first post so I will try to do it right. Let me give you the specs. I have a 350 rebuilt to a 383 stroker with a holley 670 truck avenger carb in my 73 FJ40. It will run forever when you idle it, you can rev it up as much as you want and no problems, but if you take it out and drive it it runs great for about 10-15 minutes then sputters and dies. It will restart no more then 30 seconds after it dies. I have changed the ignition coil in the distributor, I have insulated the fuel line that is close to the motor to make sure it isn't vapor locking, I have put on a new mechanical fuel pump, I have taken the fuel tank out and blew the lines out, cleaned the tank. Still the same problem. I am pretty sure its a fuel problem cause I bought a clear fuel filter and everytime it dies the filter is completely empty of fuel. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

You might still be having vapor lock issues and/or not enough fuel pressure. Easiest fix ditch the Mechanical fuel pump, go electric with an inline pressure gauge. That way you can dial in the fuel pressure and get the pump away from the motor. I had similar issues on my 78' Fj 40 and that was the only way I finally cured my fuel issues. You might also want to check the in tank fuel filter. its a PIA but only an $8 piece.
