Pickup Diesel Swap

If you are referring to the 2l Toyota diesel, I have read about head cracking issues, the 3l would be a better mill to drop in or even the 1kz-te.
The vw lump will need some tuning to preform in the truck.
These are just my opinions from researching my own diesel swap.

My "other job" is Diesel conversions on Land Rovers so mods to fit aren't a big deal but "factory stock" installations have proven to be best in this case (fewer warranty issues) Looks like I missed something in the research....

^^^not sure, but i believe all 'L' series blocks were the same, and IIRC, a popular mod to the 2L was using a 3L head...but this is just what i have read.
Engine mounts from a 5L to 1KZ will need to be moved, according to 4WDaction forum in Oz.
seen this ?:

kubota.... I'll look into that for sure.
I spent some time in Oz and I was truely impressed by the competition Toyota Diesels they pumped out a lot of power and claimed good reliability.
2.8 liters bigger is better right? New hunt!!

Blake,
the spec sheet for the 2403...is this the engine?
I wouldn't put a tractor engine in my rig(personally), I have read issues with vibrations and noise really bad, to the point where it was not fun to drive. Then there is tuning the IP to be more road friendly...and some IPs don't have the range to accomplish this. Correct me if i am wrong, I only have web wheeling knowledge....and we all know...they wouldn't put it on the Internets if it weren't true.

Revor, i was looking, but couldn't find, this website in Thailand that sells Land Rover Discoveries with 1Kz-te engines already swapped. The webpage showed a parking lot of about 12 all series 1 Discos...pretty neat, but i can't find it now.

over at 4btswaps this engine or the 2203 has been used. the bottom end has a built in girdle. hey the 6bt cummins is a tractor motor and it does fine in a truck. the kubota pump will need to be modded with a stiffer gov spring to provide fueling up to redline. i have worked on plenty of these, quiet, lightweight, bombproof. looking for one for the 4runner.

that spec sheet is for an na engine the turbo has more power and oil squirters under the pistons as well as a boost enrichment on the pump itself. at least the one in my equipment. ill post some pics if i can find my camera. i built a 1505 1.5 l with a td025 turbo pushing 15lbs of boost. that thing would turn 4500 all day long working hard egt's around 1100 peak

agreed, locally i would use an om617 easy to find 3.0 l. the volvo d24t 2.4 inline six turbo. same as vw 1.6 with two more cylinders. 1.9 aaz mechanical pump. or the little diesel the d50's used but i heard it sucked. all these are available in the states for a reasonable price. heck just the om617 you can buy for around 500 if you keep your eye out. the d24 would be cool with a little tuning

No worries about a hijack.
All information is good information!!
Yeah they stick all sorts of engines in Land Rovers, Nissans, Toy's, perkins (a favorite) Diahatsu, Cummins.. I like the stock International it performs okay for a dinosaur
