A340h & om617
Hi,
I have a 93 4runner 3.0 with a340h.. I am about to swap the om617(3.0TD) in, keeping the auto transmission...
I hope this will work, and i have a few questions...
1. Can the trans ECU work without the 3vze ECU?
2. I need to use a temp sensor from the 3vze for the trans ECU?
3. The trans is shifting based on the TPS signal, so i need to keep it and tune it so that it shifts right for the diesel?
What else do i need to worry about?

I have never been involved in a diesel swap that included an auto transmission, so don't take this as gospel... But I believe it is recommended to change the torque converter due to the stall rpm being different.

thanks for the answer...
I would love to replace the TC, but for the price of it (shipped in croatia with all taxes payed) i can buy another 4runner that still runs....
Does the oil pressure controlled by the pressure cable affect the stall rpm?

My co-worker is a transmission guy and he also told me the torque converter would have to be custom built for the stall. I want to do this swap. I have the om617 and an auto sr5. I imagine you could get away with not changing it but it would probably get pretty annoying waiting for the stall to kick in...
