4bt taco??
Hi! I just got a 96 (3rd gen??) tacoma 2.7l 5 speed 4x4 all stock 302k on the clock but new head with a lot of other good stuff! Was my brothers so i did all the work. Love the truck and got usable power by drilling out the stock airbox. Possibly go snorkel but i love diesels. Have experience with the p pump 24v cummins but was thinking and looking at doing a 4bt cummins in her. How bad is a turbo for wheeling? I know my truck you went from stuck to burnouts in a heart beat. So what are your thoughts. When folks throw a benz diesel or yota diesel in these do you run na or turbo? Anyone i can talk to or see pics of a 4bt yota? I know theres no bolt in kit so i will have to fab my life away but will cut my teeth on solid front axel and possibly 3 links. Still want it streetable but dont need it for much hiway

Too much torque is never a good thing. I'd say its about decent power. Excellent reliability. Mileage. And ALOT to do with gearing.
Unless you are building a 8ft tall swamp racer redneck hillybilly mudfest truck.

It will stay low cog lift so no hillbilly rig. Im thinking extra bracing for the frame, beefy suspension and proper gearing. It would be sweet to be able to get to the trails at 75mph and have the only weekness be my driving skills. Is the 5speed in my truck strong enough to take 200-300 horse and double that in torque?
