What your thoughts on a 7mge swap

I have a 83 4x4 with 22r/L52(I think). I came across a deal on a 87 Supra (with a 89 7mge) complete car. My 22r needs to be rebuilt. (I might have a W56 trans out back.) I see there are people that have done this swap but I don't see lots of detail on it.

What I know (not a lot):
- bell housing will need to be replaced, so I will need to see what transmissions I have and I might need to get a new one
- motor mounts for a 5mge
- electric fan
What else am I missing?
Am I going to need to work the firewall so the motor fits?
I saw something the other day but can't find it now about the oil pan, is that only for IFS?

Thanks for your thoughts and help with this.

look at www.supracharged.com
it has info about 5mge and 7mge swaps, and a forum. there is a link to Andy Zook's 5mge swap:www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/supra/i have heard about radiator fitting issues with 1st gens and their shorter front sheetmetal. (engine is sorta long) the oil pan should be fine with the push-pull steering, but probably not with a crossover.
i don't think 5mge motor mounts will work, they are too similar to 22r mounts.
hope this helped, good luck!

I have not found a great deal on a 5mge yet. This Supra is going to be bought, either to turn around and sell or pull everything out and junk what's left. The car is cheaper than buy a rebuild kit for my 22r.

SKULLYOTA
I was looking around on supracharged yesterday but did not see anything on a 1st gen. I need to sit down and really search around. Work does not like me surfing around on their dime.
I was just looking to rebuild one of my 22r. A neighbor has this Supra in the back yard that a junk yard was to pick up but never showed, so I told him I would give him $200 for it. So I am buying the car to either fix up a little and sell or pull the motor and put it in my truck. I don't think I can beat that deal.

Thanks

there was a guy in the forum on supracharged that swapped a 5m (not 5mge) into a 2wd first gen, ( similar length as a 7mge i think) and Andy Zook said on his swap page that it wouldn't work in a first gen. zook also had an issue with the engine almost touching the brake booster. someone has probably done it on a 1st gen somewhere....

Thanks

I might be in trouble. Or I might turn my truck more into a buggy.
