Alot of people say it's not worth it due to the OBD system's, it is possible but considered harder than any of the v8's but harder than a 3.4 swap so people just go with it. Not ot mention tranny etc...

Ok I did some research on the matter. Found alot of info. Thanks guys... Here is the deal with the runner. I got it with a broken frame. I pulled the motor and sold it. I got his old core in the deal. My plan was at that time to do the 3.4 swap with the trans and t-case I had. I have already got a replacement frame and planned to do the sas. Now I love the advantages of the link suspension and the use of coil overs for the 18" of travel. I am thinking that there should not be any issues with the oil pan and the front dif. I will use the 6 speed with the tacoma t-case putting the drive line on the drivers side. Why I want to use the 4.0 is that motor fully dressed with all fluids only weigh 375# And the 235 bhp. I am wondering how much of the wiring harness I will have to use from the tacoma. I know where I can get a badly wrecked 2007 taco with 23k on it cheap. If anyone has info about what all this involves it would be great. Welding and fab work is no problem for me. Wiring and that stuff can be crazy...

There was a thread here on yotatech on a succsesful 4.0 swap, but I cant find it anymore , search you may have better luck .

If you can get the whole truck cheap and able to customize things with out a big problem , Then Id say go for it .

With the wiring you can download everything you need from toyota TIS ,those diagrams are very detailed and in color .

Good luck and be sure to take alot of pics .
