I would highly recommend the 2j over any domestic v8 for a road truck. Wikipedia the stats on a 2jz GTE vvti compared to a v8 motor that you would like to put in.
If I could get my Runner which has 1jz GTE vvti to hook up off the line I know fore sure it would beat my 5.7 Tundra.
Spend the time and do your research on what motor you would really like and what's gonna be best for what you do with it when your done. More importantly budget. Research Research Research

^^I would highly recommend any decent sized v8 for a road truck, offroad truck, or race truck. I think you'd be missing a lot of low end torque in a T100. I like my turbo straight 6, its fun to drive and makes turbo noises, but a v8 is always going to be a better all around motor.
Peak dyno numbers on a wikipedia page don't really relate to actual driveability.

2jzgte over a v8. Mine makes torque down low when I need it. Unless you want only low end power for crawling. Its drivable, and will get those MPGS too...
