Yes, We had 50 cast as a first run batch.

We have been busy with other projects for our parent company, I hope to be back on this on Saturday, working on the machining jigs for the remaining castings of the batch.

This is awesome and I have just spent about five minutes looking on the net for the
1uzfe and holy smokes you can pick them up super cheap with around 65k miles insane!!!

Question for you do you have to get one that was out of a vehicle with a 5spd? If the 1uzfe was pulled from a car with a auto will you run into problems with the 1uzfe ecu and the 5spd R150f?

Thanks

Chris

There were never any 1uz-fe equipped cars available anywhere in the world that came from the factory with a manual transmission. Most of the swaps convert them to 5spd with no problems. Other than wiring it so the ECU thinks its in neutral all the time so it will allow the starter to engage its easy.

Thanks for the info after I posted the above question I got to thinking about the fact that the 1uz-fe mostly comes out of luxury cars

on a side note for those of you looking for bell housings I found a shop selling them on Ebay for a pretty darn good price.

I have no idea about the quality of the company of the product but the price is worth some research. Here are some pics to the bell housing and the auction link. Price is $485.00 and free shipping

Ebay Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1uz-1...item4151d28c48

KSR Racing website (shop that builds the bell housing)

http://www.ksracing.net/forums/index.php?topic=7546.0

Another link on thier forums with install info

http://www.ksracing.net/forums/index.php?topic=30328.0

If anyone knows any details of this housing or the company please post some info. Hope this helps those who are wanting to do this swap but are being held back by sourcing a Bell housing.

I wonder if Twisty is still around. Did you have any more trouble with the drivetrain? Ie not being able to handle the additional power/torque? I noticed in one post you blew the front diff.

all u have to do is get a heavy duty u-joints for the front drive shaft.
the reason why Twisty's front diff broke was that he was doing a competition and he probably over abused it to much.

Very cool post. I'm thinking of doing a similar swap. Where are you finding them for cheap?

you can get em for 500 all day long on ebay. I would recommend contacting a jdm importer directly to save even more cash by circumventing the middle man (ebay)

DOes anyone know if this user is still around? They were last posting on here in 2010, and saying that they were building parts for the Lexus V8 Swap, and I need to get hold of them. If anyone can help me out, I would sure appreciate it! Thanks!

Ok. I know this thread is a little old, but could somebody break down exactly what i need to get to do this swap in my 1993 Hilux Surf? Am i gonna need an electric fan and a different radiator because of clearance issues? Im tryin to gather everything i need and figure out a cost. I would very much like to do this swap especially since the 1uz-fe's are everywhere over here in Japan....

Engine mounts, bellhousing, modified headers or aftermarket ones. a new modified sump is needed if you don't want to do a body lift. I use the stock ECU, Stock diesel Surf Radiator (recored).

Best fan I've found is a spal http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.as...&item=30100401
One of the few that fits perfect and doesn't give any cooling problems thrashing it in an Aussie summer.

sweet. is there anywhere in particular to get the headers? what about the engine mounts and the belhousing kit? i already have a 3inch body lift so i dont think i need a modified sump. my surf is gasoline so, will a diesel radiator fit in mine?

Headers depend on what clutch release setup you use. If you wish to use the stock slave cylinder on the outside of the box with a clutch fork, it doesn't leave you with much room on the side for headers. I've started using Howe Hydraulic release bearings for my conversions, they cost less than $150 from summit and save a HEAP of time with header fab down the track. ( plus its one less thing for me to tear off under the car )

I've used a petrol surf radiator before, worked fine, I just had it recored to make sure it was up to the task.

With a 3" body life you won't need a sump change.

I'll post pics of engine mounts in a bit if you like and the part number of the Howe Hydraulic release bearing.

Ok. The hydraulic release bearing, is that for manual trans? Mine is an automatic. Is there any company out there that sells the custom engine mounts or do i have to fab them up myself?

What did you do for the wiring harness? Is there a company that makes a harness for the conversion?
