Looking for recipient of my turbo 6M-GE

I pulled my 450whp engine from my 85 Supra before I sold the shell. I was hoping someone was going to buy the engine and trans, but no one is biting.

What I'm looking to swap into is the problem i need help with.

The first thing I'm concerned about is the transmission this will mate to without special adapters. I was running a W58 behind this motor with a Spec stage 5 clutch, and i want to use that setup in the truck i choose. From what i understand, the W56 will accept my current setup if i use my bellhousing, so will some of the G series trans'.

What other transmissions will allow me to use my clutch and bellhousing?

The second concern is the rear. This motor makes too much power for the 7.5" toy rears, only the tru-trac survived.

I had an 85 sr5 4runner, which i loved till i flipped it. I'm OK with that generation of truck, tacomas, and even the T-100. From what i saw on one site, it appears the W-series (w56 and w58) came in 4cyl trucks only. I think i'd be happier with the w58 option.

Do I have any other options?

Thanks in advance for any info,
D

Take a look at the swap in my signature, it can give you an idea of what's needed to pull this off.

Donor wise, I'd go with something light, like an older pickup, 1st/2nd/3rd gen. Your 85 supra was very light, putting that motor in a T100 would probably make it feel pretty sluggish down low.

Transmission wise, with the power you're running, I'd go with an R150 transmission out of a '96+ tacoma/4runner (longer input shaft) and a 7mgte bellhousing/clutch. I only say that because my freshly rebuilt w56 lasted less than 5k miles before it started making noise.

The 8" V6 differential from the pickups can take quite a bit of power if built well, its the same differential that was behind the 7mgte in the supra. Mine has held up fine for 10k miles so far, but I'm still running stock boost. You could probably throw a Ford 9" under whatever truck you go with, or spend a lot more money, keep it Toyota and build up a diamond axle with a 9.5" Landcuiser diff. Dana 60 would probably be overkill and too much weight.

that's good you figured out how to mate the m-series block to the r150f tranny w/o hacking up bellhousings. If i happen to get a truck with the w series transmission, i'll probably let it ride for a while since i already have the parts, then do the r-series swap later.

thanks for the reply

Looked at a few vehicles yesterday at the pull-a-part.

Mid 90's T100; looks like loads of room around the engine crossmember, which is a plus for me. Has an A340E with a bellhousing that measures roughly 5 5/8" in depth. My Supra A340E bh looks to be just shy of 1/4" deeper (not a big deal).

Also there was a '94 4runner, once again with an A340E. They are much better looking than a T100

I just took in a '95 camry on trade; I'm hoping i'll be able to trade it for the swap vehicle, or at least sell it for some fundage.
