7mgte swap w A340F tranny
Hi I have a 87 4runner w an A340F tranny and a 89 7mgte engine w ecu (auto of coarse). I know the 7m bolts to the tranny bell housing but am curious if the ecu would work for the tranny? Or does the ect control the tran? Is this a realistic swap or should I look into a manual option instead.

It is a A340f w a chain driven transfer case on a 22r engine. I will defiently do more research but i know the ppl on these sites r the pros w this kinda of stuff. With every electronic manual I have looked at the two trannys seem very similar except the 4wd and the wirung set up. I was hoping to do the swap, bolt the tranny and move everything back to accommodate the extra engine length. So are these trannys controlled by the ecu or the ect? Have anyone heard of this being done?

A340's
If you are positively sure it is an F model, which by the way is very unlikely, you should have a fairly simple control rewire swap. If you have a H model, throw it away and get a different trans. Easy to check, 1 oil pan or 2 oil pans on the trans, 2 is bad.
