7mgte gauge help

I have a 1989 Toyota Pickup with a SR5 gauge. Im not sure what vehicle the gauges came out of but worked perfectly with my old 22re. The issue Im having is that when I the 7mgte to the tachometer wire, the gauge dosen't even want to budge.. my question is do i need to use the 7mgte tachometer of the supra or prehaps mod my tachometer somehow? Another question is, does the oil pressure meter work with the oil pressure gauge on the truck? When i turn on the truck the pressure gauge will not move at all. I remember seeing it go up one time for a couple secounds and just go all the way back down so im not sure if its a loose wire or the gauge just isnt compatible.

I'm not sure about your wiring issues but keep in mind that the 7mgte has a stock oil pressure of 4.3psi at a warm idle. That is not a typo. 4.3 psi. Its an HVLP system. Meaning its a high volume, low pressure system. The guy did my swap before i bought the truck put in all after market gauges...maybe he did that for a reason?

well maybe i can do something to the gauge to make it read correctly, but my main concern at the moment is that tach.. just such a big gauge not doing anything bothers me.

I tried using the adjustment on the 22re tach and then an adjustable resistor, both with no luck...ended up buying an sr5 cluster from a v6 truck. Haven't run it since, but I expect no problems.

Do you know if the v6 engines used a distributor for the tach or a Crank/cam positioning sensor?

You need a SR5 Tach from an 88 or 89 V6 truck. It will work fine! Only the 7M-GTE was a distributor less engine, even the 7M-GE used a distributor, but your tach signal still comes from the ignitor.
