Wink

Hello there,
I am from Australia, and my 4 Runner had the 3Y engine in it before I put the V8 into it. the first thing you will find that the 3Y and 4Y engines used s different chassis mounting position, the bell housing is also very different. the clutch lines are on the opposite sides and just about everything that can be different is different. I was contemplating going the other way, but the modifications were so much it was easier to put the V8 in. if you have a donor vehicle you will be advised to take everything the engine has to hook up to the gearbox and be ready to change the position of the mounts on the chassis. apart from that you will have no problems, After all it is still a Toyota setup. In our country the idea of keeping the 3Y or the 4Y is not good, the other engines are much prefered, mainly because the bulk of Toyota's had anything but 3Y & 4Y engines, most went after the diesel engines and many even changed over to the diesel's. Nothing is impossible if you have the drive to do it.

Thats a bad reason to swap an engine. Just because you got it for cheap or free, doesnt make it a good idea.

You'll end up spending much more money and time on the swap and you'll end up with LESS power.

hopefully not to much money. i'd rather spend time than money anyday. i dont mind the time it takes, i'm hoping to use this for my over the winter project. as for power,i dont much care i'm more interested in fuel economy and longevity. thanks for all the feedback. BTW i'll try to get pics up soon, its a flat bed dually from a ten foot box truck it has a 138in wheelbase
