Added the S/C

So added the S/C and mileage did not get worse but did not go up either. I put in a new O2 in the front due to my Fuel Trims being outta wack. Didn't help much. As soon as I have the dough I am going to pick up a used OEM cat with down pipe from Ivan (if he still has it) to see if that helps. I went over my wiring and can't figure out why I am having this issue. The fuel trims point to a lean condition but my mileage is terrible so who knows. Anyone in Sac area that would be willing to help diagnose? Or any other ideas? I have no fuel mods yet. Still running stock injectors with a stock pump. Kinda feel like I am highjacking here.. Sorry

It's been around three years since I completed my swap and I consistently get 17-18 in the summer with lots of A/C usage, and 18-19 during the rest of the year. If I put the soft top on I can sometimes eke out 20. These are all city MPG figures.

On the highway I get 20-21 MPG depending on A/C use with just a light load. When I tow the pop-up camper and are loaded down I get about 16MPG. By the way, I drive around 70-73MPH on the highway empty and around 65-68 towing the trailer.

I'm currently running 33x10.5 BFG All terrains with 4.10 gearing and a 5 speed. I also have an electric fan.

My best was 26 mpg. I average more in the 22 mpg range (mixed city and highway) most of the time. But 5 years and over 200,000 kms later, the thing is still a blast to drive.

Thanks to you I just completed a 4.10 swap (from 4.88) with nonADD front end. I have always driven very conservatively always employing "hypermiling" techniques so I'm going to try to beat you

I wish the R150F had a taller 5th gear. I believe it has a .83 and the auto has a .70 OD. If I could get a 5th gear in the .70 to .75 range then the RPMs would drop and MPG would likely improve. Does anybody know if this is possible?

Easier to swap diff gears, or tire size. BTW, not possible to installed taller 5th.

That's a bummer. I don't want to regear to 3.90. I guess I'll try to drive 65-70 on the highway to keep the RPMs down, but it is difficult with the easy power of the 5VZ.

Limp Mode ?

David,

With the three codes you are getting I beleive your ECU is running in limp mode. The O2 will really affect your milage. UDR can take care of your rear O2 issues.

I just realized I never commented on my gas mileage. I took a trip to OKC from central Arkansas. 65 mph pure freeway. 272 miles on 12.2 gallons of fuel is about 22.3 mpg. 65 mph is about 2100 rpm FWIW. It would probably do much better at 55mph highway speed.

Rear o2 sensor

David,

I am pretty sure without the rear O2 sensor connected the check engine light will be on and the ECM will go into limp mode because it is an emissions issue. I do not know about the evaporative canister pressure.

Did you get the vapor sensors hooked up? The vps feeds to the ecu and will throw a code and maybe affect gas mileage..
canister won't,sensor will or so I have heard..
