So it begins...94 IFS 3.0 auto to a 3.4 SAS auto
Well, Im gonna give this my best shot. Trying to make my 94 IFS 3.0 auto into a 3.4 SAS auto. Got the engine most of the way out. From what i can gather, the A340H out of the 94 is useless for this conversion? I am attempting to find an entire 3.4 eng/trans/ecu/etc. that will be most easily converted and made cal. smog legal. Is any year more compatable? Ive heard talk of pilot bearing complications which i'd like to avoid. is this applicable in auto's? I heard I also need to locate an older chain driven t/c...any advice is greatly appreciated.

the 3.4 tranny wont work since the xfer case output is on the wrong side.

heres my concern
"The 3.0L and 3.4L trucks both use an A340 automatic transmission. Although these transmissions use the same transmission codes, they are very different from each other....The 3.4L requires the use of the ECU from the 3.4L donor vehicle; thus requiring the use of an A340 automatic transmission from the 3.4L donor vehicle." but I hope your right |

if you don't believe me search a little on here. i've never done the swap, but i've read MANY threads on here. some people with experience would be MT. Goat, elvota. also read about the swaps on Offroad Solutions' website.

my quote was from offroad solutions..most threads concerning this refer to R150 5 speed. It bolts directly on. I just cant find anywhere that says the a340h uses identical bellhousing.

if i'm not mistaken the 5vze block is identical or very close to the 3vze they should all bolt up to eachother. i just looked on ORS and they sell a swap kit to use your stock auto with the 3.4.

Get a R150F transmission and a VF1A transfercase out of an '89 - '95 pickup or 4Runner with the 3VZE. These will bolt directly to the 3.4. If you already have the newer R150F and transfer case, sell them and recoup some cash. Good luck.

Read this for some good info. It breaks down like this though, you need a T100 ECU and harness to have correct tranny control and no check engine light. The T100 uses the same sensor for the speed sensor in the tranny (reed sensor). ORS sells the adapter harness to make this work and your 4wd to work also. I have one 4runner with a A340H 5VZ. I used the T100 stuff and the 4runner runs great.

if i was to use the t100 ecu and harness would that mean i would need the 3.4 from t100 also? would it make sense to just find engine/tranny combo if i have someone who wants the 3.0 a340h?

The 3.4 auto tranny works the best, its the 3.4 transfer case that has the output on the wrong side. Unlike the A340H the 2 can be seperated easy. Marlin makes an adapter to join the 3.4 auto tranny with a gear driven t-case to make the best of both worlds (that's what ORS uses in their kit).
