Running drive cycles for monitors on jack stands?

Just curious if any of you ran through the drive cycles to set the 4 emission monitors on jack stands in your garage? I'm trying to work through some CEL codes and I have a feeling it's because I haven't completed the cycles for the monitors. Unfortunately i do not have the 4runner registered do I'm a little weary of driving around town from a liability and legal standpoint. It looks like the top speed called for in one if the cycles is 45 mph. I have not put a vehicle under load on stands before so in interested in safety concerns/tips as well as anyone's success in completing monitor statuses this way.

Thanks for any feedback you might have!

I have not, and would be extremely apprehensive to do so.

When I was finishing my swap, my registration expired, and I paid the registration fees, but I was due for a SMOG anyways so I couldn't get a new sticker until it passed. I went to the DMV (in CA) and got a couple of moving permits (I was hoping for some kind of 2-3 month temp registration) that allowed me to legally drive the truck around with expired registration "for repairs" for the day.

It may not have been entirely legal, but I was supposed to fill in the date on the moving permit before driving it, but I never did, I kept it with me along with all the other paperwork showing I was all paid up and just needing a SMOG check and hoped that if I ever got pulled over that I would somehow find an understanding officer.

For me, I would have rather paid an expired registration ticket than deal with a truck falling off jack stands with the wheels spinning at 45+ mph in the worst case scenarios.

Yeah, I'm in your ballpark. I thought I read in one of the 3.4 stickies of someone taking care if the drive cycles on stands, but I didn't feel too comfortable with the scenario.

Sitting at the DMV as we speak to get the temporary permit. The reality of how long my 3.4 swap has taken will be smacking me in the face with a $100 fee for bit registering it for so long.

Thanks for your feedback!

I did it every time but once.
Worked perfectly.

Don't be an idiot and put the cruise on or place a stick on the pedal and walk away.

If you sit in the seat, control the gas pedal manually, and have a foot on the brake for the ready, you should be fine.
