Revilo's 3.4 swap
Let's get the party started! Bought a 94 4Runner 3.slo A/T last week and after putting nearly 1000 miles into it, the head gasket blew and numerous other problems have cropped up. So after spending countless hours reading throught this forum, I have decided to get the ball rolling for the 3.4 swap. I know how to do basic maintenance on a vehicle, but I've never undertaken something of this magnitude, and I'm very nervous/excited to reach the end result. I bought the donor last night and it should be delivered on Friday!
Donor: 99 4Runner 3.4L w/ 107k mi. I also have the ECU from it, the wiring harnesses, A/C compressor, air box, EVAP.
Got all of the FSMs & EWDs from the Toyota website that I'll need. Studying, studying, studying...
The only thing I don't have from the donor is the transmission. I plan on using the A340H that's already on the 94.
This will be a quick swap and on a budget. I hope to have her finished by the first week in November. Thanks everyone for all the great info out there and I will start to post some pics when I get home!

It will be well worth it once its finished but i would hold out for the a340f trans much better and refined.
You will get the po1700 no matter what because the speed sensors are both different and have a different band width i believe? there's a long thread somewhere on here explaining it.
I started out with the a340h/3.4 and it was okay till i started having problems with the trans slipping and the po1700 end result is a 5 speed swap and haven't been happier.
I used the auto ecu and resistors for the solenoids and the trany temp sensor, only code i have is po1700 but i'm in Oregon
best swap ever.

Use a t100 ECU from a 97-98 AT. No more codes same Speedo reader. You'll need to cut the Old Trans harness section and splce that to the 4runner harness and you will need to Add a Relay to cycle the L4 circuit for Low range.
I have a 95 4runner and swapped in a 97 3.4.
