Pre-swap homework

Ok, So after spending enough time reading through this section to hurt my eyes I just wanna say Holy wow! You all know a ridiculous amount of things about Toyota trucks. I'm planning on swapping the 3.0 out of my 91 4runner and swapping in the 3.4. I've done a lot of reading but haven't found much about cost. I'm considering doing it myself because I only have 3000ish to work with but I would really like a shop to do it because then they are responsible for making it work, and the only swap I've done so far was my nova, which was all of 8 different things to re-connect haha.

Aside from those thoughts I feel pretty confident about finding an engine and swapping it, but only as a method of last resort. I won't have to worry about doing things right if a shop does it but I realize that might be too expensive. Anyways, any thought s on cost would be greatly appreciated.

Mine came in close to $3000, but I did whatever work I could on my own.

The engine was $2000, but you could probably find them cheaper down there than we can, what with the whole 10x the population thing.

Exhaust and crossover pipe were around $1000, but I got a new catalytic converter, muffler, and 2.25" pipe. I think I got hosed a little on that, and you'd probably do better.

Figure another couple hundred bucks for parts and tools I didn't have, minus the $300 I got for the 3.0. I could have gotten more, but just wanted it out of my brother's garage.

i got mine done for 2100. I did all my own work. including wiring. if you want to do it but arent' sure about wiring user yotaman is offering to do wiring http://www.yotatech.com/f37/custom-b...ipping-195534/

Make sure you either get a complete rig or find a person or wrecker that has a complete rig so you can get all the needed parts from the same rig!
