bellhousing came in
it fits the tranny, this should be the ticket for my swap
the shaft sticks out about 0.125" from the face of the bellhousing (i estimated)
drain at the bottom
vent at the top
hole that needs to be covered
"toyota 3.0 4runner 5-spd 94"
moved the toys and parked the truck where i'll do the swap
ready for the parts truck (hopefully i can pick it up next weekend. there was a huge snowstorm - 2 feet - where the runner is right now)

Awesome update with pictures! Lol. Super excited for you man! I'm sure it will be one of the cleanest swaps, at least electrically and I'm sure in many other ways, in much of yotatech! I drove around with Johnny boy the other day and his heavier 2nd Gen 4 runner was so quick off the line! Definitely got me excited!

Looks like you are missing a dowel on the bell housing. Make sure you have them both. Should swap from the other one. Make sure one isn't stuck in the trans or you might crack something when you tighten the bolts down.
There is a rubber vent thing for the hole in the top.
Snow sucks! Unless you're playing in it. 94 degrees in Az today. Summer's going to suck though.
Glad you found a donor. Your swap will go so much smoother.

thanks. i took that dowel out as i already have both in the spare trans. i'll probably be ordering a bunch of hardware for that, seeing as i don't have a v6 with bolts already there.
since i'm doing mild trans tunnel work, i may also add a top hole for ease of transmission removal (for the two top bolts). just a thought for now
and i was looking through the wiring diagrams for both the truck and 4runner, and it doesn't look that terrible. since i have the donor truck, it looks like the only things i'll need to splice are the fuel pump and dash. not much else, if anything. for the alternator, i'll use the same 1-wire configuration as before.

been reading lots of 3.4 swap threads.
be sure to address the O2 sensor issue on bank #2 CEL PO420. Seems aftermarket CATs throw codes after a few thousand miles. Popular solution is the URDUSA O2 Simulator
I've also read that the 5VZ power steering pumps burn up quicker, some say it is due to the rack and pinion high pressure strain. Some guys convert a 3VZ P/S pump to work on the 5VZ with a pulley change.
Very desired year is the 99 4Runner 5VZ as Toyota fixed an issue with the TRD Supercharger in the ECU from previous years.
Nice thing is that the 5VZ uses OBDII, so you can monitor the engine realtime with software or ScanGauge

He had a crack in his collector, but I am not sure what happened.
I'm sure you know this stuff already, just thought I'd increase my post count for the day.
