Down to P0505 last code!!
Working on a 92 4Runner /97 4Runner 3.4
5 speed swap.
I have worked through all the other codes .
This one is driving me over the edge .
Because it idles fine and all works like it should for the first 20 miles or so sometimes as far as 50 miles till the idle creeps up to about 1250 rpms and just stays there.
Shut it off sit till the next day drive a few miles code clears till it gets hot again.
All new ( brand new) air filter housing, MAF sensor, Air intake tube New clamps .
Coolant Temp sensor , IAC with new gaskets and hoses. PCV valve and hose
Most All vacuum hoses replaced with new.
Throttle cable custom bracket made.
I have not checked if the throttle body is worn just read that thread.
I know it must be heat related .
Can a bad brake booster allow to much air into the system.
Any thoughts thanks

Well I did get a new one to install .
I had a little mishap I had it squirt out of my hand and land on edge just hard enough to slightly bend.
Not trusting my poor luck I elected to get another.
It was just to hot to stop and get another today.
So that is where I stand on the thermostat.

Turned out to be the ECM.
It was a bugger to track down because it was intermittent .
It got to the point I carried the Lap Top and Multimeter and was at long last able to get some really strange readings.
Does anyone know if the ECM`s have prints on the inside cover. If they do it might be possible to repair them
I had been leaning toward the ECM being the problem but hated to spend another $870.00 for a new one.
Not like changing the other things hurt anything besides it was a real learning experience
Now what next 3.4 in a 87 Pick up or 87 4Runner mayhap a Rear wheel drive Celica
