Is a '98 or '00 just as "good" as an '01?

Aparantly I made it too confusing- this is all I really need to know:

Would a '99 3.4L be just as good of an engine to S/C as an '01?

Is the tube mani's and dipstick hole the only thing that changed on the '01's?
