95 t100 3.4 into 89 truck help

Well i was really hoping my first post would be under better circumstances, but im trying to get
my truck running and i cant get spark. The 3.4 is out of a 97 tacoma, but the electronics are
from a 95 t100. The t100 was running so im pretty sure the ecu is good. only reason i didnt use
that engine was that it had 273,000 miles and the one from the tacoma has around 25,000
I wired up a conversion harness and i had the e4 pigtail that i cut off the t100. everything on
the e4 plug is hooked up including the switched power, but i have no idea where to hook up constant
power. on the later 3.4's the ecu plugs are e5,e6,e7, and e8. The one i have however is e4,e5,e6,
and e7. so im thinking ai need to put constant power to something. Anybody whos done this
swap with a 95 3.4 please chime in as im pretty sure its wiring, Thanks

2 power sources BATT and +B make sure they are both hooked up. You have the EWD for the t100 right? and your 89?

Don't know if you found this..

I did a pretty extensive write-up with diagrams, etc. with a '97 T100 into a '88 here.

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f160...emonch-223093/

I wouild think the E4 plug on the ECM should be quite similar.

Well 99% of the wiring is done. I had all the ewd's and created a "Conversion harness" out of the old 3.0 engine harness (using the two pigtails that connect to the body harness of the 89) and the body harness pigtails from the 3.4. The result is like a foot long extention that makes ie1 and ie2 plug and play with the 89 (ik1 and ik2 i believe).

E4 is also spliced into various wires from ie1,ie2,ik1,and ik2 as per fsm specifications. I hooked up switched power from the 89 body harness, through my conversion harness, then to the black and green on the e4 plug. This is the only power i hooked up. I checked it with a multimeeter and the ecu does recieve power when in "ign2"

I was under the impression that i only had to wire the e4 plug (From evolta's thread i believe) and not touch any of the others. But the issue with that is that i only hooked up switched power, nowhere in the e4 plug is anything for constant. I dont have the pinouts of e5-e7 and my TIS subscribtion is expired so im pretty much lost.

No, you should definetly need to have other wires hooked up to the 3.4 body connectors.

On mine the blk/red IGN power, blk/yellow 12v switched, blk/grn 12v constant, blk starter relay, grn/yellow COR relay, and a few more.

On my application the power related E4 wires were:

white/red - 12v switched
blk/grn - 12v constant
blk/wht - starter relay

Also keep in mind that the COR relay wiring which is all in the body connectors must be hooked up as well.

Sorry Monch, by the others i meant e5 e6 and e7. I wired the black with green to switched, and pretty sure the white with red to ign2. That would mean my wiring is incorrect and i need to put constant to the black with green. I will try that when i get off school.

Also, I want to thank you for your swap theroy thread as well as your build thread. both were valuable resources when i was creating the conversion harness.

No problem. I glad to here the resources I put together are helping. Just double check that your EWD's say the same as me, the colors seem to be pretty similar from year to year, but Toyota likes to throw the occasional curve ball.

I never had to touch the other 3 ECM plugs for the basic engine swap. They came right from the engine harness, right into the ECM.

I had to splice into them for the URD fuel upgrades for the supercharger, but that's another story.

^ thats exactly what i meant about the other three. And thats great news!

By chance do you know if having the tps disconnected would prevent spark?

My tps wont plug in since i have the wrong model one (3 wires on the sensor, 4 on the harness)

This is what i have for the 95 T100

Hope it helps you out, but I'm guessing you already have this...

Andrew.

edit:
Sorry, it will not allow me to attach the overall wiring digram again...

I wouldn't think that the TPS being there should prevent spark. As a matter of fact I have read on a few forums that the engine will run without it being plugged in, but I cannot personally confirm this.

Well i havent had time to do anything, I had to take apart my dads 07 taco and Rebend brackets, the fender etc due to him rear ending someone. On the bright side the truck looks like new and the paint i used is almost a perfect match.

I was wondering if anyone knows if older 3.4's have an extra sensor on the intake mani. I have one clip that i cannot figure out what it goes to. Its located near injector clip #1 at the front passenger side of the engine. There is no place for it on the 97 taco intake mani and i cant remember where i unclipped it from on the t100. In the same place i believe there is a knock sensor (or something on the head) that is hooked up and another clip that ataches to a sub harness (goes to the a/c compressor)

To sumarize, there are 3 clips, 2 hooked up, third is unknown. I know this is really hard to understand so i will get a picture tonight and post it tomorrow

Well this is kinda turning into my build thread lol

New bumper for the taco was off a white truck and i sprayed it with the Home depot 50$ husky gun. Worked pretty well in my opinion.

The 5vz is currently bolted in as well as the tranny, I cut out the core support so that i could put the engine and tranny in at the same time. Worked, but was tight with the transfer case and front diff.

Seats are out of my 87 supra and i think there super badass in the truck. For those of you wanting to do this, its very easy. I just rebent the front and rear brackets, cut off a little rod that went into the floor of the supra, and modified the seat belt reciever

And yes my crossover looks horrible. My wire feed was messing up.

Is it the cam sensor connection you are talking about?

Well i got the truck running, just had to connect power to the white with red and she started sparking.

The connector that i could not identify was for some part of the egr (maybe a vsv valve). Im not using emissions as i do not have the evap box, so what should i do with the original 3.0 charcoal canister? remove?

O, does anyone have a link that describes where to solder the resistor to get the tach to work?

Edit: Nevermind, Vital22re told me what to search and i found out where it goes, i'm off to put all the interior back in, attach the front drive shaft and take it for a cruise.
