92 and 95 3.0 to 3.4 swap

Ok here it goes. I picked up a free, 92 4-runner, from a neighbor who lost his house and moved out of state. It runs. Its white and...lets just say there is a reason I named it swiss cheese. I later picked picked up a 95. It also has the 3.0 but doesn't run.

The idea was to learn and modify the 92, and when its fried, I would transfer the mods (bumpers, tire carrier, blah, blah) to the much nicer looking 95.

Power sucks. I do pull a trailer filled with camping gear (and the 5 of us in the fam,) to various camp sites. Then base my 4x4 operations from there. That way I get to see new terrain.

This 3.4 turbo-charged thing sounds like the ticket. But, time and money are the enemy. Not only do I work my 40 hour regular job, I also have a tractor work/excavating business I'm trying to get farther off the ground.

Will my plan work? I could use the advice. The only time I have to get on the computer is at work. On break of coarse!!!!!!!!! So research time is minimal. Anyone live around Memphis MI??????

Start with the 95 that way you wont be doing the same job twice. Then if you can run the 92 untill you have the 3.4 then part it out to make back some of the money you spent on the 3.4 and in the end you will have a kick ass 95 with little money into it and only had to do it once.

makes sense. Long as the 92 lasts!!!! Any mods to make on the 95 while I'm putting in the 3.4 on the 95 that would save me money in the long run?

I would like a 3.4 thats turbo charged. What year/model vechiles should I look for????????

Thanks for taking the time.

Its super charged,,, and I think you need to get a 98 or newer to be able to put the TRD super charger on it. If possible get the harness and ECU from the same truck. If you want an auto get an auto engine and ECU. If you want manual get a manual ECU and Engine. If you do another way it will take longer and may lead to a dead end. Read and then read more. Every thread that is over 2 pages is like a gold mine. The more you put in to reading it the more you get back in knowledge.
