3.4 swap won't turn over...

So.... have a 91 Toyota pickup with a 2002 M/T 3.4 4runner engine. I have everything connected with the exception of the vapor pressure switch and a connector on the tranny. When I go to turn the key, I have power to every in the vehicle, but the engine won't turn over. I can hear the fuel pump relay working when I turn the key and my lights dim. I also have 12v coming from the battery and I have connected a battery charger to the truck. I've double checked the wire connecting to the starter and all my grounds. Any help would be awesome!

When you turn the key does the starter attempt to turn the motor over at all, or is there no difference between the key at "RUN" and the key at "START"?

2002 4Runners only came in an automatic, and there's something with a park/neutral switch that needs to be done (I don't know what, my swap was a manual); it basically tells the ECU that the transmission is in park or neutral which allows the ECU to start the engine.

Did you run a separate line from your swap's conversion harness to the starter (starter trigger wire)? The 3.0's had this wire included in the engine harness, but the 3.4's included it in the battery harness for some reason; so when you do a 3.4 swap, you must manually run a single wire to the starter. More than that though, you must take the STA wire from your ignition key (the wire that's activated when you turn the key to "START") and run it to BOTH the starter (as I just described) and also to the ECU's STA terminal.

The last thing I can think of right now is to verify that your ECU is NOT from a limited model, which had an immobilizer system. Without the original key, the ECU will not allow the engine to start.
