First welcome

second Search. Youll find typing that ? into the search bar in the top right corner of the page you will find more info that your ever gonna need Try that also search the forum as there is an entire section dedicated to lifts, motor swaps and the most misc stuff you could imagine. Try that first and if you have a more specific question after... lets hear it.

Welcome again and good luck with it

Yeah money is always the kicker. Save your money (that motor too if its yours now) and wait till your truck needs it. That and research the crap out of the swap you want so you can do it when it comes time too. Nothing like saving money and taking pride in your own work (its not rocket sience just time and that $$$). Lots of info here and the web on all types of swaps. Take your time and dont rush or youll make folish and dumb mistakes (take it from me )

If you want to keep it auto then I would sell that engine and buy an auto. You will create way to much work for yourself. And yes it does cost a bit. Save lots O money. Just my opinion and there is bunches of info. Here is some links to get you started. Best of luck.

You would want to use the wiring from the 96 or 97 (same as the engine you have) and then make sure it matches the transmission. So wiring from a manual. Now if you go on TIS and download the diagrams you will see there are slight differences in wiring from each of the years. I don't know specifically for your years. My 2001 engine harness doesn't match what they have and I would frown upon making more work for myself. My opinion.
