The only "additive" known to work is auto-rx.
www.auto-rx.com
There was a lawsuit filed by the FTC not too long ago regarding this subject. Can't find it at the moment.
Try doing a search for "bob is the oil guy"
You'll learn lots about oil and additives.

I use Marvels Mystery Oil as an additive. I use it in my fuel system as well, about 8oz per tank of gas.
NOTE THE AMOUNT FOR GASOLINE!
I use one quart per oil change in my crankcase. Many farmers and truckers here have been using it for years. A friend of mine has an old Yota 2wd w/ 380k+ and it still runs like a champ. Looks like Sh#t but it runs good.

I spend my money on synthetic oil for the engine and synthetic gear oil for the tranny, transfer case, and differentials. Additive to me means something must be missing and therefore an something has to be added. I feel better spending money on better oils from the get go than trying to get less friction with an additive.

I am very skeptical of any additive- especially for engines that have nothing wrong with them.
The auto-rx looks interesting because they only claim to clean the sludge and not improve performance in any other way... of course, with regular oil changes I've seen engines torn-down that look new after 100K also.
I think that Volvo guy with 2 million miles on his car only used regular oil and just changed it regularly.
