hydraulic clutch help
I know this is all about Yota pickups, but this is the only site I know of that deals in Toyotas....My buddy has a 1986 corolla gts, his hydraulic clutch took a dump and i dont know where to start with it. Ive only dealt with cable-clutches...so if anyone can help, id appreciate it. He attempts to engage the clutch and nothin happens. I cant find any leaks or anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Check if the pushrod on the slave cylinder is moving when the pedal is pushed. If not then the piston seals on either the master or slave cylinder have probably gone. This lets fluid bypass the piston, without necessarily leaking outside. Open the bleed valve on the slave cylinder and push the pedal. If fluid comes out then it's probably the slave cylinder, if not then it's probably the master.
You can try rebuilding clutch cylinders but it's usually better to just replace them. On an 86 if he still has original cylinders I would be tempted to replace both while you're doing the work. After replacement bleed the clutch just like you do with brakes.
