Coolant drain on a 2.7l block? Please help.

I'm planning on flushing the coolant on my 98 4Runner, 2.7l 4cyl. I cannot find the block drain!!! Is there one? My manual says it's located on the passenger side (where my old 22R was) but I can't find it. Can someone help? I drained and filled my radiator a couple of times but I'd like to do a complete flush.

Also, is there a real reason to stay with the Toyata red coolant. Will I hurt the system if I switch over to the green stuff?

Thanks in advance.

just get one of those kits (i think prestone sells em) that helps you back flush your coolant system............then you wont need to worry about opening the block drain..

as far as what kind of coolant..........there will probably be a big debate over red vs green but ill give you two tips that should help you out..

1) whatever color you choose make sure its NOT the orange stuff (just in case you were considering)

2) and dont use tap water...........buy some distilled water to mix with the coolant.

as far as color goes................ive seen guys that use the red stuff and swear by it.......and ive seen guys that use the green and swear by that too but i think as long as you use a good name brand coolant youll be ok regardless of the color

For Toyota vehicles, that red stuff is sworn by everyone dealer, independent shops (like Goodyear and Firestone), and the DIY mechanic...stick with the red stuff, expensive yes, but well worth it. The drain block are always tricky to find, they are usually located on the back of the block facing the firewell. Oh and it is a bitch to get to try looking from underneath the truck lying on your back and in between the firewall and block.
