I think that the new fluid is standard on all trucks from 02 on...I am speaking of the Type-4 fluid.
I could be wrong though, perhaps someone on the boards here knows better than I do. |

I recently changed mine and I asked the local dealership and they told me dexron III.

Switching to syntethic is cheap insurance. There are several choices all of which have a VERT pasionate following, so it depends on who's propagada you want to believe. Personally, I like the Amsoil fluids which have served me well http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/atf.aspx.
DIY ATF flush http://www.amsoil.com/faqs/ATF_and_F...Procedures.pdf If you choose to go with Amsoil, become a prefered customer which gives you dealer cost on their products http://www.amsoil.com/preferredorder.aspx Check your owners manual to verify the requirements, but for my 2001 it's Dexron and I also use it in my wife's Highlander that calls for T-IV.
