Did the second oil change today along with changing the oil in both differentials and the transfer case. I changed the oil early at 4000m, but I wanted to get the synthetic gear oil in before winter really hits. I was surprised at how murky the diff oil was after 4000m, and there seemed to be a bit of lube grease around the drain plugs. I assume its from assembly. There was also a fair amount of metal shavings stuck to the magnet in the drain plug, but I have seen worse!
They were quite easy to change. Buy an extra quart in case you spill half a bottle on the floor while changing the oil and come up short.
Also, a foot or two of rubber tubing is needed to refill the front diff because there isn't enough space to pour it in directly from the bottle.
For the record, the rear diff and transfer case take a 24mm socket on both drain and fill plugs. The front diff takes a 10mm hex on both plugs.
I only found 3 zerk fittings on the driveshaft, did I miss any?
As I was cleaning up, UPS showed up and dropped off the 285/75's. Got them mounted late this afternoon. Pics coming soon.
