a bad starting sound = no fun

for the last two weeks or so, everytime i start up the 4runner, it makes a sound similar to nails on a chalkboard, just not quite as screeching. it only lasts about a second, if that, but its very consistent...cold, warm, hot....morning, night...rain, sunny...i got the starter replaced about 3 weeks ago, so i dont think thats it. im due for an oil change in about 800 miles, so i dont think thats it either. any ideas?
