Auto shops is NYC area

First, thanks to all who made suggestions in my places to live in NYC post - much appreciated. I found a pretty nice room on Staten Island. Now I just have to get used to the increased terror alerts...

I was driving the other night and my check engine light came on. Now I'm looking for suggestions for reputable shops in the area. Any suggestions? Anybody know if you can get diag codes read at Auto Zone?
