Red face Agh Need Help Please!!!!

ok well my friend blew a head gasket in his 86 toyota pickup 4x4 22r. so we ripped it apart and found that most likey a boat mechanic worked on it siliconed the head bolts and everthing els he could together. We got it all back together and pulled it out and snaped the timing chain.. pulled it back in and torer down and bought a new timing chain set and it was a 96 link... its to small and wont go on, ok so get the other 98 link chain.... to big and skipps. not sure what year the head is becuase it was replaced from prev. owner. One more werid thing is thats theres no oil in the filter... but theres no ticking from dry lifters.... so i donno anyone help thats had this problem. please send me an email simple_man98501@yahoo.com
