what would be a good engine choice

got a question.have a 85 toyota thinking of a near future v8 engine swap.what would be a better choice 350 with a carb or fuel injection.if i go fuel injection how difficult would this be.

As far as carb or fuel injection would depend on preference either will run the engine. If you will be driving it a lot I would go with fuel injection. If you go with fuel injection you will need all the efi out of the donor vehicle. Here is a 1uzfe build that will give you an idea.

a good choice would be a 22re, if you want a chevy buy a chevy because you going to break everything anyway

Why not a 4.3 vortec? there cheap , get good h.p. , can be found easy enough have good after market support and from what I have learned are fairly easy to swap

thank you all for your feedback,maybe i will look into that 4.3 vortec,just put a new 5speed tranny dont want to tear that one up

i'd look at the 4.3 over a 350. also, consider a toyota v8, like the 1uz, only thing is that a bellhousing for your 5speed will own your wallet...

Another thing to consider, is where do you live and what are the restrictions on smog?


If your runnign a 22r now i would look into a 22re and gearing, or if you really want to SWAP motors i might go with the 3rz.
