swapping out a 22re for a 22r

Hey i have an opportunity to get a 22r motor for my truck. My truck is a 1992 4runner with a 22re in it. The motor available to me is a 22r, out of a toyota celica, it may be a 1984 but i have to go confirm that. if it is a 1984 is it possible to swap the two motors. I've heard that a 1985 22r can be swapped fairly easily, but i would like to know if it is possible to do that with a 1984.
Any help would be greatly appreciated so that i can know if i can make this swap or not.
Thanks

it's just the engine that's available to me right now. thats all. if i could find a 22re then i would use it. but i have found a 22r available so i just want to see if i can use it. thats the only reason i would do that.

same thing i did, i bought my 91 for 125 bucks with a bad 22re, bought a 22r for 500 that had just been rebuilt, i had some vacuum issues but once we got i straightened out it runs freakin' great. vertical climbs is the only time i had carb problems, ran a vent hose off the front venturi of the carb to keep fuel out of the back, all my buddy's are running 22re's and wishing they have the power of mine. i couldn't find a 22re for less than 1000 bucks around here. "put a magnet on the bottom of the skinny pedal and let it eat!"

They're essentially the same engine, so as long as it's a late style 22R you can swap all of your EFI stuff onto it and it will be just fine.
