Engine Options for two trucks.

Ok, so...here's the deal. Two trucks, both toyota's. Number one: I just paid 130 bucks for an 84 toyota with no doors or bed. The motor knocks its ass off...although it may be in the timing chain. I've got a Ford 351 windsor, which I know I can fit in there with some creativity. I don't really want to put lots of money into this swap...but, if I can get away with some sort of an adaptor for a few hundred bucks, I can run the exhaust, and the fuel lines, and make motor mounts. My question is simply can I mate the ford motor up to the toyota tranny? I'd like to keep a lot of the Toyota setup, and gearing if possible. If not, I might just do some work to the 22r. This is just simply a trail truck, and I don't really care how much I have to chop it up to make stuff work, I'm just looking for bang for the buck.

Ok, Truck Number two. This will be the cliff note version. My sister used to have a Grand Cherokee. She totaled it, so she bought a 1993 Toyota with a dana 44 up front, 5.29 gears, lockers front and rear, a bobbed bed, chevy springs in the rear, and 36's. Now it's on 37" TSL SSR's. Sounds great...so great in fact...I wanted to buy the truck as well. Well, I think she let it get hot out wheelin a few times...which on the 3.0 is a ty idea. Well, I'm pretty sure it's got a cracked cylcinder head...so, now I'm looking at a swap, cuz quite frankly I used to have a 91 yota with the same motor...and I don't think this is even worth putting money into. A guy I know has an entire chevy astro van that was wrecked: 4.3, throttle body injection, 4L60 trans, and all the computer and wiring needed. He said couple hundred bucks can take it away. My question is...what do I need to slap that in her truck? She has the 4 speed auto. Does anyone make adaptors for it? This is her daily driver...and she really doesn't need any kinda of V8 power.

I know I've kinda started a lot of topics and to make it more confusing there's two trucks involved...but, any input on one or the other...or both, would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Ok, maybe I started off a little too specific. The bigger issue is my sisters truck. She needs a dailey. I'm sure I could do the work to fix it, but I don't think it's worth it. I have a good line on a 4.3 chevy and all that comes with it. What's the biggest issues in installing a 4.3? The radiator can stay in the grill, right? THanks.

Try DOWNEY OFF ROAD for the adaptors I was going to do a 327 into my 904runner and they have everything including knowable people that can answer almost all your questions about the 4.3 swap
