if you really want to do a supra swap check out supracharged.com. but i ve wheeled a lot in idaho id honestly suggest that you do a 4.3 swap for your area. i was going to do a 7mgte swap but the 4.3 gives me what i want. good luck its a pretty easy swap for the supra you can even use your trans if its a 5 spd

supracharged has answered a lot of my questions in the past on parts and things...
im pretty much set on the 7mgte swap because for the money.. it has the best amount of power..plus im trying to keep everything toyota on my truck now... im no rock crawler but do go on some trails with being that im in the local 4x club... my truck is setup with the chaos gen 2 4x4 kit and i have a deaver 62 setup in the back with 16 inch shocks which is another reason i think this swap would be better for my needs i have seen wiring diagrams but was wondering if anyone makes a painless harness kit? |

I don't know anyone that makes a painless wiring harness for the 7mgte swap. You can though for 10 dollars go to the Toyota TIS and download the factory service manual for like a 1989 to 1992 supra. If you have a haynes manual the wiring diagrams in them for the toyota trucks is pretty accurate. The great thing toyota did is they made the wiring in most of the vehicles pretty simple to begin with.
So you just have to match the wires from the truck to the wires to the 7mgte engine harness. This swap will cost quite a bit depending on the 7mgte engine condition. They have a bad problem blowing head gaskets and spinning bearings. I would suggest doing a multi-layer gasket and ARP head studs to fix the head gasket problem. Aslo make sure you replace all the seals and gaskets on the engine. Also the sheilded wires for the knock sensors will need to be replaced which doesn't cost much. Also one thing to consider is the engine wasn't designed for angles of any sorts and that is one of the shortfalls of the oil system design since it is a shallow oil sump so during angles it is possible to starve the engine of oil and spining a rod bearing which is common like I mentioned. Way to solve this would be to weld in some baffles in the oil sump or make a deeper oil sump. It is a extremely strong engine though and plenty of aftermarket support for it still. The bottom end will handle 500 HP if done properly. There has been plenty of people that have done this swap before so figuring out the wiring won't be a big issue. I hope this helps.
